An ideal base for exploring the beautiful countryside of the Northern Dordogne. Situated by the ramparts of this lovely old market town with restaurants, bars and tennis within a few minutes walk. The house retains all the original beams and has views overlooking the old town and countryside. The historic towns of Brantôme and Bordeilles are within 15 minutes drive. Converted to a high standard, the accommodation consists of a large lounge with french windows opening onto a small sunny paved area. Kitchen and large bedroom with en suite facilities.

The house is situated by the ramparts in the old quarter of Nontron, which originates from the 17th century. Close to the house is the actual spot where, during the siege of Nontron, Richard the Lionheart was struck by the arrow which mortally wounded him. He was carried to Chalus where he died.

Most French restaurants used to be like this 20 years ago. Thankfully,this one hasn't changed.Its a little bit like Allo Allo! Worth a visit for the experience. Large steaks cooked over the wood fire in the restaurant.Good, varied menu, the duck is excellent.Three course menus from 16 euros. Wine 6 euros per litre.
