In rural surroundings between Duras and Marmande (own transport essential). The village of Levignac-de-Guyenne is 2km away and has a boulangerie, Post Office, doctor, butcher, pharmacy and a small general store. Supermarket shopping is available in Duras (6km) or Marmande (12km) and there is a different market in the area every day selling fresh local produce. Bordeaux is 100km away and Bergerac 30km (airport 40 mins). Duras is on the doorstep and has an ancient chateau and well-known wines. Vineyards and history abound in the area which has something to suit all tastes and budgets. There are many restaurants and cafés serving local specialities. Swimming, golf, tennis, horse riding and bicycle hire all available locally.

The gite has been  converted from the barn of a 300 year-old farmhouse and is ideal for a couple or 2 friends sharing. It has one double bedroom and a sofabed in the living room. 

The gite consists of an open plan living area with a kitchen corner, dining table and chairs, sofabed and french doors onto the terrace, a shower room/wc and a double bedroom. On the terrace - garden table and chairs and a barbecue and views of the surrounding plum orchards and Ste Croix church - an ideal place to relax with a book or a glass of something chilled. Gas, electricity and bed linen are included in the rental. Tv (French channels only) and plenty of books in English. Non-smokers preferred. No children under 12 due to the working farm nearby. Comfortable accommodation for a relaxing holiday at a realistic price.

Whatever your interests, this delightful area of Aquitaine will have something to please you - walks or hikes among the vineyards, cycling on quiet (but not always flat!) roads, visits to the many ancient  "Bastide" towns - each one offering something different in restaurants and shops, golf courses, swimming in lakes or outdoor pools, horse riding, lunch in vineyards - with wine-tasting of course, or just tasting (and buying) at a château that you happen to drive by. Visits to historic châteaux, French lessons, balloon rides, visits to farms, or museums and elegant shopping in Bordeaux - all are possible, although some activities require reservations in advance. Let the train give you glimpses of the famous vineyards before arriving in beautifully renovated Bordeaux. Spend a day in St Emilion enjoying a different vintage with each course over lunch - or simply chill out on the terrace with a book and lunch which you have chosen yourself at one of the many local markets.
