18th century farm in South West France within 1km of the medieval Bastide town of Monflanquin, providing an excellent base for sightseeing being only 10 minutes and 20 minutes respectively from Bastide towns Villereal, Monpazier and the vibrant town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, a mere 15km away. The town of Bergerac and its airport are an easy 35 minutes drive. There is also a TGV stop at Agen only 1 hour 40 minutes away.

The letting accommodation at Lancanal forms part of an ancient farm which has been tastefully restored to retain its many original features and provides a high level of comfort. The farm rests in a wide picturesque valley surrounded by 10 acres of gentle sloping meadows and woods and overlooks its large mature gardens and beautiful fish lake which contains black bass and carp, which can be fished on, catch and put back basis.

First floor. Master bedroom with Henry II style double bed and en suite shower room with wc, 1 single bedroom with bateau lit and fitted cupboards, 1 small bedroom with bunk beds. Adjacent shower room with wc.

Ground Floor.  Twin bedded room with adjacent bathroom and separate wc. Fully equipped kitchen/dining room with vaulted ceiling providing gas hob and electric built-in oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave oven/grill. Large kitchen table seating up to 8. Lounge with large stone fireplace and sliding patio doors opening onto large private covered terrace with table, chairs and bbq, with views over the lake and valley. English/French free to air satellite tv, dvd and video player with a selection of dvds, videos, books and board games provided.

Bed linen and towels provided, except pool towels.

Detached Stone Cottage sleeps 2

Situated close to swimming pool. Open plan vaulted living area with French doors opening onto private patio, with table, chairs and bbq, overlooking fruit orchard. Living area comprising sitting area with comfortable settee and chairs and wood burning stove. A sleeping area with double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and wardrobe. Dining area with table and chairs.

English/French free to air satellite tv, dvd and video player are provided with a selection of dvds, videos and books.

Through a door, there is a separate new bathroom with polished concrete feature bath with overhead shower, vanity unit and wc. A separate new fully equipped freestanding kitchen with oak worktop/drainer, double butler sink, wooden chopping block, a Falcon range cooker with 5 ring gas hob plus double electric ovens and grill, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave oven/grill. Bed linen and towels provided except pool towels.

Both properties have electric central heating if required.

The hot summer days and balmy evenings will entice you to descend the roman steps of the 11 metre salt water swimming pool (first 1/3 of pool only 1 metre deep then sloping to 2 metres at deep end) which is situated in the orchard behind the old tobacco barn and is surrounded on 3 sides by large stone terraces and low stone walls. There is a large covered terrace area on the south side for shade and the whole pool area has been planted with fragrant lavender, jasmine and honeysuckle. Solar heated shower and sun beds provided on the terrace together with inflatable toys for the children.

For the more active members, there is a large grassed recreational play area with a badminton/volleyball net, childrens swings and ping pong table etc. The surrounding countryside is also perfect for cycling and walking with horse riding and golf facilities only 2km and 13km away. As Lacanal is set between the Rivers Lot and Dordogne, there is no shortage of choice should you wish to try some watersports such as canoeing.

The owners Paul and Esther will be more than happy to provide you with all the local info when you arrive, on what's on, where and when, ie, tourist attractions, fetes, markets, restaurants etc, and can provide a baby sitting service if required.
