Only 20 minutes away from some of the finest beaches in Brittany and 20 minutes away from the delightful medieval city of Quimper. Chateaulin is 3km away and Pleyben, with its famous calvary, 5km - both have a good selection of restaurants.

The river is good for fishing and swimming and the garden and riverbank teem with wildlife and birds, such as deer, red squirrel, kingfishers and heron. The towpath is ideal for safe walking and cycling.

The larger of the two cottages sleeps 6 in 2 double bedrooms and one twin. There is a sofabed in the large lounge. The smaller cottage has one vast double bedroom and a bed-settee downstairs. Both cottages share a large garden to the rear and have their own private areas too.

Both cottages are well equipped with everything you could need and also benefit from a wireless network connection at no extra charge. Both have a cot and stairgate available at no extra charge.

Location and activities:	On the River Aulne with canoeing, cycling and walking on the towpath and with beaches nearby. Many tourist destinations such as Brest, Quimper, Le Faou, Pleyben, Locronan etc, are within very easy reach. Bird-watching in the area is very rewarding. Spotted on and around the river have been kingfisher, woodpecker, heron, buzzard, terns and sacred ibis. The highest point in Brittany is a 15 minute drive away and the famous Point du Raz approximately 45 minutes drive

Entertainment on-site:	For hire are bikes, a 4-man canadian canoe, one-man inflatable canoe, cricket set, badminton set, boules and various other games and equipment. There is also fishing directly outside the cottage for a small permit fee. Please contact the owner
Outside:	There is canoe hire at nearby Chateauneuf de Faou, sailing, canoeing and diving on the nearby Crozon Peninsula, golf at Brest, beach activities such as kite surfing, sand yachting and so on at nearby Pentrez
General:	This is a rural location with no immediate neighbours. Although secluded there is a sense of community from the passing dog walkers and cyclists on the tow path and also the boats that increasingly pass through the lock (no lock keepers duties though!). The guests comments from 2007 were very complementary. Several brought their own bikes and cycled into Chateaulin downstream or to Pont Cablant upstream to eat
Suitability:	Young people in search of nightlife could be disappointed. As the cottages are directly on a river, parents may want to think about the safety aspects of being near water although the front is fully enclosed with a wall and fencing
