Ideal base for exploring, sightseeing, walking, cycling, horse riding, tennis or just winding down. We left Scandinavia to enjoy the good life here.

"Cognac, wine and gastronomic rural world. Ideal base for exploring, walking, or climbing uphill paths to pine wood hills for fitness, biking, sightseeing or just winding down and meditating, relaxing. Nearby you have outdoor life: Beauvallon aqua lagoon and Brossac Lake with bar, restaurant, swimming, rowing, sunbathing, village shops within 15 minutes drive and Chalais with its colourful Monday market, Libourne on Sundays and many more other markets nearby 20-50kms. There is horse riding and tennis. Wine, cognac and pineau tasting as well as purchasing them from nearby vineyards."

'Something to Take '
"Monday morning Chalais market is a must. Vegetables, fruits and little nice craft work souvenirs as well as hand made oak tables, wine and cognac. Or maybe strawberries and goats cheese. On Thursday, Montendre is as charming as Chalais, or Libourne on Sunday."

'To Please your Palate'
"There are some 30 restaurants not far from your gite 5 - 10 miles. From the Château of Chalais to many other French rural restaurants where the food just arrives at the table and to be enjoyed. In June - August you can eat outside in the centre of Montendre on Tuesday nights accompanied by local musicians and sampling the local culinary specialities. Ask us - we are happy to help you to find a special restaurant for you."
