"Twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday there is a local market located on the main boulevard, great for purchasing fresh fruit and veg & watching the locals in action! "

'Fish Market'
"On the rue Marche is a wonderful fresh fish market which is open daily. Even if you are not a fish lover, it is worth a trip for the sight, sound, smell and spectacle. Great coffee and people-watching seats are available in the cafe opposite the market."

'Ile d'Aix'
"A trip to the tiny island of Ile d'Aix which is located just off the coast and reached via the ferry from Foras is a wonderful day out. The island has no motor vehicles but many bike hire shops; try a tandem if you dare. Great beaches and wonderful restaurants for a lazy lunch. Would recommend taking water if you plan to walk or cycle for the day as shops are few and far between."

'La Rochelle'
"A trip to neighbouring La Rochelle is a must with a walk around the port an ice cream from Ernest's, one of the oldest ice cream makers, Ernest's is located in the heart of the town, you cannot miss it! La Rochelle is lively at night with many street entertainers and street bars."
