Use your chalet accommodation as a base to explore the Loire Atlantique area of Poitou Charentes. If you're seeking tranquillity, then head to the Briere National Park which has lots of walking and cycling routes, or explore the Gavre Forest on horseback. There are superb resorts to explore too - La Baule, Pornichet and Le Croisic whilst fascinating Guerande has medieval ramparts with views over the salt pans. In contrast, Nantes is excellent for shopping - head to the Passage Pommeraye shopping arcade - whilst a visit to St Nazaire could include the International Ocean Liner Museum and the Airbus Factory.
