'Bordeaux'
"Easily accessible by auto route (there is park and ride at junction 16) or excellent train service from Marmande. The new tram system is wonderful, a great way to get around this sophisticated city. Designer shopping in the pedestrianised centre and a vast range of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. It looks wonderful at night when the newly restored buildings are flood lit."

'Festivals'
"Most of the local villages hold their fete in the summer, these are great fun and often end with fireworks and dancing. There are medieval fayres, wine and oyster fetes, jazz , brocantes and rock festivals. Visit at least one for a memorable experience. "

'Local markets'
"There is a list of local markets in the house. Marmande on a Saturday morning is the real thing. It is bursting with local produce especially tomatoes. Everything you need for lunches by the pool and barbecues of local duck, pork, beef or fish from the Atlantic coast. There is a small town or village market everyday. Try the local breads and cheeses with fruit freshly picked, cherries, melons peaches ,apricots. Unforgettable flavours. In the high season there are night markets often with moules or steak frites on the menu. Buy a bottle of local wine to go with it and soak up the atmosphere."
