The house is located in a popular holiday area on the Atlantic coast with an average of 2,600 hours of sunshine a year and excellent beaches. An ideal location for children of all ages. It is on an established development at La Palmyre, overlooking woods, with private communal adult and child swimming pools (open from 15th June – 15th September), tennis court and boules pitch. The town centre and nearby beaches are within walking distance.

Duvet covers, under sheets, pillow cases are supplied, however, bath, beach and tea towels are to be provided by the client. The owners are resident in France and only a phone call away should you require assistance.

La Rochelle, the principal town of the Charente-Maritime, has an aquarium, large port and good shopping centre. Cognac’s several noted distilleries offer English-speaking guides. The town centre is interesting with cobbled streets, shops and restaurants. Royan with its marina, casino, amphitheatre, and indoor market every weekday morning. A ferry service operates to the Medoc region, other boat trips are available. Saintes has a Cathedral of note and markets on many days. Fort Boyard can be seen from the nearby Ile d’Oleron.

Activities nearby include boating, boules, cycling, go-karting, golf, gourmet dining, horse riding, sailing, sea excursions, shopping, sightseeing, surfing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, walking, waterskiing, watersports, wind surfing and wine-tasting.

La Palmyre has a good shopping centre with restaurants. There is an extensive Sunday morning market where local produce of cheese, seafood and Pineau are available. La Palmyre Zoo, which boasts to have over 1600 animals and the parrot display, is a 'must see'.

Easy access to excellent clean beaches which are backed by pine forest. There are many cycle paths through the forest. Sports facilities in the area include windsurfing, sailing and golf (18 and 6-holes); cycle hire is available in the town.
