About the Property

Charming stone house near village centre, Magalas, Hérault, Languedoc Roussillon.

Maison Herve dates back to the 19th Century and is situated in the medieval village of Magalas. Sympathetically restored to reveal the stone staircases, low beams on the ground floor and a further beamed ceiling in the suite, this little house is an absolute delight to stay in. The ground floor cave has been renovated into the living room and most floors have been painted in keeping with French tradition. The kitchen is light and bright, with terracotta floors, a breakfast bar and french windows with shutters. This floor also has a double bedroom with en suite bathroom. The stone stairwell leads from here up to the master luxury suite. Wrought iron four poster bed, luxury bedding and open bathroom including corner bath /shower. The suite is decorated with roman style tiles and has a pretty vanity unit with modern freestanding washbasin. This room has a small french window, wrought iron stair ballustrades and chandelier. Double wardrobe. Cd player/radio, chairs and coffee table.

Five minute walk to the centre of the village. A handful of restaurants and couple of bars, boulangerie, patisserie and pharmacy; there is also a hairdresser, tobacconist and electrical shop. The local school and small supermarket a 5 to 7 minute walk.
Beziers is excellent for shopping, as is the French town of Pezenas with its upmarket restaurants, open air cafes, local market art and antique shops. Montpellier is a lovely city, and the medieval town of Carcassonne is worth a visit. Vineyards and wineries galore!

Good area for cycling, canoeing and windsurfing along the gorgeous coast line. Touring the vineyards is very popular, all very local for day trips. A gourmets delight, fabulous area for seafood, French bistros as well as international cuisine. My favourite for eating out is Pezanas.

We are surrounded by some excellent beaches, all within driving distance. The medieval town of Agde is 40 mins by car, as are Sete and Portiragne. The beaches are long and sandy and very safe for swimming. The Canal du Midi, excellent for boating or cycling alongside, is a short drive away. Narbonne is a nice day out, approx one hour away. A 20 minute drive through the vineyards takes you to the River Orb and the Orb valley which is known for good swimming, sunbathing and canoeing.
