Holiday Bungalow (NC002395) - 3 Bedroom - House

Centrally located and within 5 minutes walk from the beach and numerous bars and restaurants. The famous picturesque seaside resort of Arromanches is an ideal base for exploring the D-day landing beaches and the World War 2 Normandy battlefields. Arromanches is easily accessible from the car ferry ports of Caen (40 minutes) and Cherbourg (one hour) and is well served by local shops. The historic town of Bayeux (with its famous tapestry, weekly market, trendy shops and other attractions) is only 10 minutes away by car and is well connected by the local bus service.

The house is a detached bungalow with off street parking for one car (and secure cellar parking for motorcycles). The lounge/dining room is equipped with a tv tuned to a range of ‘free to air’ UK tv and radio channels. There are 3 bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin), a shower room and separate toilet. There is a fully-fitted kitchen (cooker, fridge-freezer and breakfast bar). There is also a washing machine in the basement. Oil fired central heating for cooler months.

There is a large south facing rear garden with furniture. The house enjoys sea views looking out over the remains of the famous Mulberry artificial harbour. 

We recommend a trip to the well presented invasion museum on the Arromanches sea front and nearby 360 degree cinema to fully appreciate the vital role of the town to the liberation of France in WW2. A free shuttle service connects these 2 attractions. For those who are more active there are tennis courts, a crazy golf course and a childrens play area close by. The Tourist Information office in the town also has several recommended walks (or you can simply stroll along the beach to the adjacent seafront village of Asnelles - with several  watersports facilities and other attractions).

The spectacular Mont St Michel is a great day out and the quaint fishing village of Port-en-Bessin (where you can buy fresh fish or have a game of golf) is a 15 minute drive down the picturesque coastal road. A few miles further on and you encounter the American war cemetery and Omaha Beach (as seen in the movie epic Saving Private Ryan).
