The River Seine meanders through the pleasant Normandy department of Eure on its way from Paris and the Ile de France to the sea near Le Havre. Along its banks are charming towns and villages including the remains of Richard the Lionheart's fortifications at Chateau Gaillard perched dramatically on cliffs above the town of Les Andelys - a must-see whilst on holiday here.
Further south along the River Seine, you can enjoy one of the department of Eure's most famous attractions - Monet's Garden at Giverny.
