Aquitaine Fishing Holidays

The Landes coastline offers surf casting off the beaches (some say this started in the Landes) or you can hire a boat or join a fishing trip for bass, sole and other sea fish. Inland, lakes such as Biscarosse (Landes) or Castelgaillard (in the Lot et Garonne) can be fished for carp, pike, perch and other species. Rivers Dordogne, Lot and Garonne are mainly category 2 where you may fish for pike, perch, carp, bream, tench, roach and other species with a permit, obtained from any tabac, tackle shop or Post Office. Certain stretches of rivers are category 1 (fly fishing only for trout and salmon); here you need an extra stamp on your permit and permission to fish.
