Owners Recommendations

'Eymet'
"The beautiful bastide town of Eymet is approx 12km from your holiday cottage. Situated on the River Dropt and founded in 1270. An unspoiled town with medieval houses in stone and colombage, some with carvings and engravings. There are the remains of the fortified walls and a defensive castle. Many restaurants, bars cafe's and shops are situated around the square. There is a morning market every Thursday selling local produce and crafts but the one NOT to miss is the Tuesday evening night market throughout the summer. Eat drink and be merry. "

'Ste Foy la Grande Market'
"There are many excellent markets in the area but we consider the best to be the Saturday morning market in the bastide town of Ste Foy la Grande. Spend the morning enjoying the aromas and sampling the wonderful produce - fresh spices, olives, cheese, foie gras, fresh bread, chicken roasting on spits, the list is endless. Take a seat at one of the many bars/cafes in the town and watch the world go by, for lunch possibly enjoying the oysters just purchased from one of the market vendors. You will find street musicians, clothing, jewellery, livestock in fact every thing you have ever wanted to purchase and more you didnt realise you needed till then. "

'Thenac and Area'
"Thenac is a very peaceful and picturesque village in the countryside of Perigord Purple. This area is a must for anyone enjoying outdoor activities. There is a maze of footpaths, cycle tracks and bridleways taking you deep into the countryside. Also fishing, canoeing, golf - the prestigious Chateau des Vigiers 27 hole championship style course is just down the road. Being on the wine trail you are never far from a tasting and the restaurants are second to none."
