Owners Recommendations

Local Area and Activities

'Abbaye Saint Guenole de Landevennec'
"Visit the famous Abbaye Saint Guenole de Landevennec and museum. The Abbey which is still home to Monks dates back to the 5th Century. "

'Brest'
"A little further afield by about 1 hour: In Brest Oceanopolis is a must – the largest indoor aquarium in Europe. This can be reached by boat from Le Fret (20 mins from the house). Be careful to check the return times of the ferry. Maritime Museum. Golf courses. "

'Camaret'
"A quaint fishing village, popular with artists. Many galleries (in the narrow back streets) and many good restaurants. There is a sandy beach to the west of the seafront. Visit Cap de la Chevre and Point des Espagnols for the most spectacular views of the sea crashing on the rocks. "

'Crozon'
"There are wonderful views from the cliff tops on the edge of town. Children will enjoy the adventure park in Crozon (from tree top trapezes, mini golf, paintballing etc). There are many hire shops with all watersports gear. A centre for canoeing and kayaking on the D791 from Le Faou. The famous annual Festival of Music Bout du Monde is held in August "

'Landevennec'
"Take a boat trip which goes from the quayside along the beautiful reaches of the Rade of Brest which is part of the National Parks of France. You will see the superb modern architecture of the new suspension bridge Pont de Terenez. Walk along the beautiful allotted paths from the village, or have a game of tennis on the village court. (arrange in the Mairie’s office). The village has a small restaurant, creperie and Tourist Office (in the peak season) and general food shop. "

'Morgat'
"A lovely seaside resort with large boat harbour, plenty of good seafood restaurants. A swimming pool with water chute. Wide sandy beach. "

'Quimper'
"A beautiful historic Cathedral town. The River Odet flows through the center. A wealth of shops and boutiques. Various festivals are held in Quimper. "

'The Crozon Peninsula'
"Here the dramatic Atlantic coast is at its most spectacular. This beautiful peninsula, which is part of the protected National Parks of France, is truly untouched by commercialism. It is a paradise for those who enjoy uncrowded wide sandy beaches, hidden coves, watersports of every variety, spectacular cliff top walks, quaint fishing villages, fresh sea food, and is all self contained on this peaceful Peninsula – and not a parking meter in sight. "

Markets and Shopping

'Crozon'
"The market square of this pretty historic town is surrounded by little shops and an interesting church, it also has a small market every day and once a week a much larger one. There are several supermarkets, doctors (who speak English) and a small hospital, vets and a Tourist Office. "

'Locronan'
"You will be delighted to visit this picturesque village, with its cobbled streets and quaint old houses. Some delicious Breton delicacies in the little shops. "
