Our two luxury holiday cottages near to Guemene-sur-Scorff are located in the heart of the beautiful Scorff Valley, Southern Brittany and only 20 minutes drive from the large, historical town of Pontivy.

'Restaurants'
"There are plenty of good restaurants in the area offering a wide range of cuisine from Michelin star restaurants in Lorient ( L’Amphitryan 2 *) and Port louis (Avel Vor 1*) to the cosy Kumquat in Rostrenen, serving fantastic pizzas cooked in a wood oven and reputedly the best pizzas in Brittany! And we agree! The nearest restaurant is only a few minutes drive in Langoelan where you can enjoy simple French dishes & pizzas. "

'Guemene-sur-Scorff and Southern Brittany'
"Deep in the heart of the Scorff River Valley, you will find our luxury French cottages the perfect base to explore and discover this stunning Celtic corner of France. Of course the 750 miles of magnificent coastline is one of Brittany’s major attractions; whether you prefer wide, white sandy beaches, secret coves, pretty ports or jaw dropping dramatic cliffs, Brittany has it all! But Southern Brittany is just as beautiful and varied inland, with many lakes, rivers, historic towns, chateaux, magical forests, mysterious megalithes and fabulous French markets to explore. For those seeking an active holiday you will not be disappointed! Here are some of the many activities Brittany has on offer: Sailing, fishing, golf, horse riding, cycling and mountain biking, walking and hiking, boat cruises, scuba diving, quad biking, watersports, canoeing and so much more!! Guemene-sur-Scorff, a pretty medieval village with ancient houses, cobbled streets and ruined Chateau right in the heart of town, is just a 10 minute drive from Brittany Spa Cottages. This is a lively village and is home to many festivals and fairs throughout the season. There are a number of shops, bars and restaurants in Guemene, plus pharmacies, banks, doctors, grocers and an excellent tourist office. There is also a large Intermarche supermarket just on the edge of town."

'Lac de Guerledan'
"Just a 20 minute drive, this huge and stunning lake stretching for 12km and surrounded by the beautiful forest of Quenecan; which has many scenic trails for walking, hiking and mountain biking. The Lac de Guerledan was created in the 1930’s when the valley was flooded following the construction of an enormous damn across the Blavet River. Nowadays it’s a very popular center for all sorts of boating activities and watersports. There is also a small sandy beach here and lakeside restaurant & bar. "

'Lac du Dordu'
"The Lac Du Dordu is an easy, 20 minute walk from your holiday rental cottage and has a good walking circuit all the way around it. Great for strolling, jogging or running! Canoes & rowing boats can be hired in the summer and there is also a lakeside bar at this time of the year. Fishing is popular at the lake (re-stocked 2011) and fishing permits can be purchased at the local bar in the village. "

'Nearest Beaches'
"Nearest sandy beaches are to be found at Port-Louis and Larmor Plage, both approximately 45 minutes drive. Port-Louis retains much of its charm and character with an imposing Citadel guarding the mouth of the Rivers Scorff and Blavet. Larmor Plage, close to the commercial town of Lorient, is a huge expanse of golden sand which is popular with kite surfers and families. "

'Pontivy'
"Pontivy is a large attractive town, 25 minutes drive from your luxury holiday accommodation. Here where flower adorned bridges crisscross the Nantes-Brest Canal, you will find a town with two distinct parts: A medieval sector with half timbered buildings and narrow, twisting cobbled streets and the beautiful chateau des Rohan whose origins date back to 1479. Then there is the Imperial sector, with straight, stately avenues & buildings created on the orders of Napoleon who aimed to make Pontivy a great military base. Pontivy has many excellent shops and restaurants and two large supermarkets."

'The Golfe De Morbihan'

"

'Vannes'
"Just over an hours drive south east brings you to the large, medieval cathedral city of Vannes. Pass through the busy modern city to discover the walled old quarter, full of ancient half timbered buildings, narrow streets and elegant shops and restaurants. Vannes has a large attractive marina and is a great base to begin your tour of the Golfe de Morbihan either by car, boat or on foot! "

"French markets are world famous for their excellent, fresh, interesting and varied produce. Here in Brittany with its mild climate, fertile land and the sea on all sides it’s a food lovers paradise! Specialties of Brittany include; oysters, crab, clams, mussels, lobster & varieties of fish, Goats cheese, cider, biscuits and of course crepes! Details of the weekly markets can be found in your information pack in you cottage. As well as food markets there are also antique fairs, flea markets and car boot sales (vide grenier) that take place throughout the year. Shopping. Our local town of Guemene-sur-Scorff is just a 7 minute drive and has numerous bars, restaurants and shops including several bakers and a large supermarket on the edge of town. 25 minutes drive brings you to the large town of PONTIVY which has many interesting shops and a number of large supermarkets."
