What to See and Do
Owners Recommendations
Eating Out
'''Get Stuffed '''
"Every time we visit this lunchtime restaurant we say ''This time we will hold back!'' We have never managed yet. Why? A vat of soup of the day, a buffet choice including seafood, salads, cold cuts and pâtés, plat du jour eg roti porc in a chasseur sauce with veg, a fine selection of cheeses, dessert or fruit, baskets of bread, water, red wine and coffee all included. All for just 10 Euros. Just 5 minutes from Plestin-les-Greves.
"
Local Area and Activities
'Armoriparc: Begard '
"What a geat day out for all the family, a nice change from the beach. A good value, family friendly water theme park. With an indoor/outdoor heated pool, waterslides, toboggans, archery, trampolines, pedalos, bouncy castles, mini-golf etc.
Set around a lake and mature grounds, it also has a café and restaurant and encourages users to bring their own picnic.
Tip: Get there at 11.00hrs in the summer and use the pool facilities first - you will be virtually alone (all of the French children have their lunch 12.30, then go in the pool ). A well tried and tested day out. "
'Camp Out - Why Not '
"Paying for comfort and then sleep in a tent, pour quoi pas!!
Pourquoi pas - why not - Another addition is a 4 man tent! Don’t worry it isn’t compulsory. Having 2 acres of land overlooking the bay what a place to be able to pitch a tent. So, why not?
Pitch the tent for the kids or adults! and have a picnic, let the children try sleeping out overnight, or just wait until dark to spot the shooting stars and
glow-worms.
Our garden is very private and safe why not leave the PlayStation or tv off and have your picnic tea in the tent, good fun and great views, take the portable bbq and a bottle of wine up to the top lawn, and relive childhood memories of the simpler things in life. After all, you know there is a comfortable bed waiting for you if the memories are not quite as you remembered!! "
'Corniche de l'Armorique'
"Enjoy the stunning part of the GR32 coastal path. Start at the port of Toul an Hery, Plestin-les-Greves, and walk along the well cleared, well marked path. It winds up the estuary, passing small coves and the well restored 2,000 year old Roman baths (free of charge and interesting information in English). From here, you walk through pine woods, large sandy beaches, a cliffside section full of wild flowers, past Ty Pesketer BN000923, more secluded coves, a local busy fishing port ''Beg Douar '' and finally through another wood ending at Saint Efflam. Here you can have lunch and enjoy the 4km of flat sandy beaches. You have the option to return on the old railway line, or across countryside paths.
This walk opens up a different breathtaking view with every footstep. Total about 3 miles, anything from 1 hour to all day! "
'Fishing with Geoff '
"Start the morning emptying the crab pots, in front of Ty Pesketer, and then plan what you would like to catch for the bbq lunch, maybe sea bass, sea bream or mackerel. Learn not only how to catch the fish but to clean and fillet it with the owner Geoff. With 20 years experience of fishing in the bay, it is very rare not to catch something worth eating and what better way to end your day ''eating your own catch'' whilst looking at where you caught it, bon appetit !"
'Market Day? Take the Kayak'
"Activity, sightseeing, things to do and eating out ………..all in one?
From the beach below Ty Pesketer, take our new Ocean Kayak , a new seaworthy Malibu Two XL, 2-man plus one child kayak. Very stable and very safe, with life jackets provided. Meander along the rugged shoreline between us and the Plage des Cures, passing coves only accessible via the sea; from there a 10 minute paddle across the bay to the quaint port and beach of Locquirec.
On a Wednesday, it is market day, so why not pick up a few things for lunch, or have lunch in one of the sea fronted restaurants. On the way back, why not trail a mackerel line, you should easily pick up a few fish for the bbq supper, or if you are lucky you may even hook a bass!!
Geoff will advise you of the tide times to make sure that you choose the right times, both for comfort and safety. He can also gut, clean and fillet your fish for you!"
Markets and Shopping
