Two detached stone built Breton farmhouses situated in a quiet hamlet 5 mins drive from Brehec’s port, sandy beaches (photo 2), the trendy Café de la Plage and creperie/grill. It is only 8km to bustling Paimpol with its medieval heart and fabulous portside marinas with a great selection of restaurants. Within 10 mins drive there are several great beaches and small ports/towns. These farms overlook the coastal forest through which one can take a forestry path and trail direct to the coast! Each has its own private entrance and sunny south facing gardens.

OLD FARM  is a fully renovated 18thC "belle longere" and has light and spacious accommodation with a large kitchen (dishwasher) and dining room. This has comfy seating, an oval table seating up to 8 persons and a willing logburner! From it are french windows leading out to the terrace and gardens and adjoining it is the sunny lounge with 2 large squashy settees (one convertible) making it a possible 4th bedroom. Oil central heating and electric radiators.

Plenty of inside photos on the website

THE GRANARY (photo 1) – the former granary and farm workers cottage, but now tastefully renovated with a large kitchen/diner and a comfortable lounge with 2 settees and a Godin woodburner. There are french windows to the garden and from it are stairs to the sunny landing and granary window seat. Leading off the landing is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a good sized shower room (wc, basin). Electric heaters.

FISHERMAN’S COTTAGE (photo 3) 3km from Pontrieux is in an idyllic sunny setting only 8 mins walk from the sea estuary and 15 mins walk from the truly breathtaking 15thC La Roche-Jagu Château. Its 100 acre estate has camelia gardens in flower from Jan to July and even a tropical garden! This is a bird-watchers paradise, and the perfectly restored chateau overlooks the sea estuary and has a fine restaurant – no entrance fees!

5 mins drive away is medieval Pontrieux which is a ville fleurie 4 star! The flower displays from April to October are a knockout as are its fêtes, small port and restaurants.

A short drive gets one to the wild Pointe du Château nr Treguier and in 45 mins one can be on the Pink Granite Coast!

Fisherman’s has, on the ground floor, a comfortable lounge with a modern kitchen corner and a corridor off which is the separate wc and the good sized shower room. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms – each with an extra single bed. One cot. Electric heaters.

La Belle Fontaine, Corvezou (Photo 5)

Private setting on edge of pretty hamlet - at end of private road surrounded by its own grounds and meadows beyond. Yet near pretty villages - one of which - St  Eloi has its own shop and bar and is walkable.

Near buzzy market town of Begard yet only 15 mins from Lannion which is the gateway to the spectacular Pink Granite Coast.

The meadow garden with its own mini trail is great for kids who want to let off steam or adults who want to completely get away from it all! 3 mins to Armoripark - Brittany's most popular adventure park/swimming pools etc.

Only 15/20 mins from pretty Pontrieux Port and cobbled squares of Pontrieux, ville fleurie 4 stars!

Great centre for touring both coasts of Cotes d'Armor

What to See and Do

Owners Recommendations

Eating Out

'Brehec Plage and Port '
"There are 3 delightful eating venues – the newly opened Bistrot Gourmet restaurant with seafood and full a la carte at very reasonable prices; the Salicorne Creperie and pizzeria/grill; and the laid back beach front café where one can eat moules/frites and drink chilled muscadet for 8 Euros and have the sea virtually lapping at your feet!"

'Great Food Great Prices'
"Why not try some of the best Bar Restaurants in Brittany? Eat with the workers for 10 Euros and enjoy 5 courses with wine and coffee included. These are usually only open Mon – Fri at lunchtimes though many are closed in August. There is a good one on the Guingamp road out of Pontrieux and another nr Plouezec at Lein ar Lan on the Yvias road. There are several around Paimpol as well and if you see lots of vans at 12 pm outside these you know it’s a good one!"

'La Roche-Jagu'
"La Roche-Jagu’s château restaurant nr Pontrieux and walkable from Fisherman’s, is built into the walls of this 15thC marvel. One can smell and sense not only the good food but the 5 or more centuries of history. The massive stone walls and gigantic oak beams are as impressive as the restaurants 3 courses from 13 Euros and exquisite patisseries!"

'Paimpol'
"Paimpol a few minutes down the road has an amazing variety of portside restaurants plus others in the so-called Latin Quarter plus the usual snack bars and of course not forgetting the superb Carrefour self-service restaurant! Paimpol’s restaurants are open all year round."

'Plouezecs La Horaine Restaurant'
"Specialises in fish but has a la carte and fixed menus from 15 Euros, it is only 3km from the farms. "

'Pontrieux'
"Pontrieux 3km from Fisherman’s and a 20 min journey from the farms has a great range of restaurants. The best creperie/grill is in the Place de la Marie where there is also Le Pontrev hotel restaurant. The Fountain square has another creperie/grill and Le Pisa pizzeria. The best restaurant is the La Sterne on the port. The menus are straightforward and excellent value eg 3 course midday meals with wine for 14 Euros and a knockout 4/5 course meal for 28 Euros with wine with every course! Pontrieux port also has a great English style pub on the port which serves tasty snacks."

Local Area and Activities

'Bonne Fête! Enjoy the Local Colour!'
"This area is alive with concerts and Breton dancing/music/food evenings called fest noz. Plouezec and Paimpol have these and other entertainments regularly during July and August and these are held at the local salle des fêtes (village hall) and on or around the port. In Pontrieux these take place at the port, château and in the medieval squares."

'Chic Beach Resort/Bird Island Tour/Round Island Walk'
"The Trestraou Plage at Perros Guirec is a great beach day out which one could combine with a visit by launch to the bird sanctuaries on the Seven Islands. There is a centre de l’ornithologie on Ile Grande not far from Perros – this island has a causeway which is always open and provides a great circular walking or cycling tour."

'Fabulous La Roche Jagu Château '
"Just 20 mins from the farms and walkable from Fisherman’s lies this amazing site and monument. This 15C château is completely restored and the grounds are magnificent with azalea displays from Jan to July and magnificent gardens full of flowers, tropical trees, medieval crops and plants, and to top it all the most exquisite and tasteful landscaping you might ever see! It is an ideas machine which will inspire every gardener."

'Paimpol Port'
"Paimpol port is so close to the farms with such a good feel factor whatever the season. To take a demi crème coffee on the terraces overlooking the port is inexpensive yet enjoyable or one could splash out on a great seafood meal! The Latin Quarter is full of cobbled streets and interesting browsing possibilities. There is a good indoor swimming pool - Piscine Islandia, museums of local costume and of the Iceland fishing links with this town - “Memoires d’Islande". 2km from Paimpol is the busy fishing port of Loguivy – with a working fishing fleet and a port front hotel restaurant!"

'Pink Granite Wonderland within the Hour'
"This lies principally between Perros and Trebeurden. The best centres to see this are at Ploumanach and Tregastel."

'Pontrieux'
"The town and port of Pontrieux is worth the journey not just the visit. Strolling through its medieval flower filled squares, taking the small launch on the river Trieux to see its lavoirs (former wash houses) and flowerboats, riding in the caleches (horse and carriage), getting caught up in the Fetes des Lavoirs (every 15/8), eating in its bistros/restaurants are all set to delight in this Ville Fleurie 3 star Petite Cité de Caractère de Bretagne."

'So Much to See and Do'
"Goelo’s coastal wonders are within 10 mins or less of the farms: Brehec’s sandy beaches and coves; the cliff walks taking in medieval port of Gwin Zegal and the highest cliffs in Brittany; bird nesting islets frantically alive in May and June; St Quay’s chic resort, Plage Bonaparte’s miles of sand at your disposal! From here 130 shot down airmen were smuggled back to the UK in the early 40s; the signposted Circuit des Falaise from Brehec to Paimpol can be followed leading to breathtaking coastal views and seascapes plus many headland walks etc! There are sailing schools near to all gites with hire and teaching programmes."

'Steam Trip'
"Steam trip down the Trieux? Well not exactly but the summer steam service in ancient locos down to Pontrieux is some experience!"

'The Enchanting Iles de Brehat'
"These are a few minutes to the north of Paimpol. Park in the free car park and take the fast vedettes (power launches) for approx £3 return. On a day out one can stroll or bike (hire) around the islands, see the lovely pink granite cliffs and lighthouse – Phare de Paon, eat at one of the bistros or buy picnics at the shop, swim and sunbathe in small sandy coves and return to the mainland as the sun sets. These islands have a micro-climate giving it Med like plants and features."

'Treguier and the Route d'Anjoncs'
"Another delightful day starting with medieval Treguier and its gigantic cathedral, amazing stained glass windows, coffee and cake cafes, and small restaurants and continuing north along the Route d’Ajoncs passing through pretty lanes, sandy coves, and arriving at the house between 2 rocks – the most photographed in Brittany – and the splendid cliffs and seascapes beyond."

'Within “Spitting” Distance is the Sillon de Talbert – Europes Longest Sandspit'
"Watch the seaweed being harvested! A good 2/3 hours walk where at times one is level with the ocean. On the way back a stop at pretty Lezardrieux will reveal more delights!"

Markets and Shopping

'Browsers Delight!'
"Markets have a great tradition here but most do close at midday! Local markets are on: Monday – Pontrieux (small); Tuesday – Paimpol (largish): Wednesday – Plouha (lively); Saturday – Plouezec (small – good for fish/cheese/veg etc). Further but worth the visit is the all day market at Lannion on Thursdays (food/veg am, rest all day)."

'Markets and Shopping'
"Browsers wanting clothes boutiques plus would find Paimpol and Lannion the most interesting. Carrefour, Leclerc, Intermarche and Netto are all at Paimpol. Cash Affaires provides endless sea theme items and Intersport sports shop can hire bikes and canoes/kayaks – both are next to Paimpols Carrefour. "

'Want to Shop 'Til You Drop?'
"If so, shoppers should visit St Brieuc at Langueux. The Langueux centre commercial is off the N12 on the Rennes road. All the big names are here! You could combine this with a visit to charming Binic!"
