"Many very good restaurants with choice of menus at various prices. Also creperies offer a cheaper alternative but quality is invariably very good value for money"

Local Area and Activities

'Ancient Farm'
"Nearby in Pledelliac is the Ferme d'Antan. A visit there will take you back to life a century ago and includes a film showing the daily life on the farm. This is a building very like our own farmhouse and one can imagine how life would have been here. "

'Ancient Town of Dinan'
"Nearby Dinan is the interesting ancient walled town with many very old buildings and lovely shops to browse around. The old walls are wonderful and include the Duchess Anne Museum. In alternate years the town has a Fete du Ramparts see http://www.fete-remparts-dinan.com/ The whole town celebrates its medieval past with many people dressing in costume. In 2010 24th and 25th July"

'Aquarium at St Malo'
"A very modern attraction is the aquarium. Very popular and ideal should you get a rainy day."

'Armoripark'
"A fun filled and relaxing day out for all the family in a floral wildlife park planted with trees. Thrills are guaranteed with 3 water slides at the indoor/outdoor heated pool. The park also features a 130 meter toboggan ride, bumper boats, mini-golf etc."

'Beaches'
"Our coast offers many beautiful beaches with a choice of deserted or lively according to your taste but all are clean and parking is nearly always free and plentiful."

'Car Museum Loheac'
"Near to Rennes there is a wonderful car museum. Allow plenty of time as there are many vehicles to see from very old veterans to more modern racing cars. A good day out. www.manoir-automobile.fr"

'Château de la Hunaudaye'
"Chateau de la Hunaudaye ia a Thirteenth century castle that has had some restoration work recently done. Now very visitor friendly - a visit is highly recommended."

'Gardens'
"There are many gardens but the most interesting is the Parc Floral de Haute Bretagne - a collection of twelve different gardens. This is on the road to Fougeres with its beautiful castle and again makes a good day out."

'Go-Karting'
"Near to Lamballe there is a very efficiently run go-karting centre. This will attract the dads and teenagers but there are also smaller carts and instruction for younger children. "

'Jugon's Summer Activities'
"In July and August a wide choice of activities are organised daily for adults and children. On Friday nights there is dancing in the square and on July 14th a wonderful firework display can be enjoyed by the lake."

'L'ile de Brehat'
"A collection of many islands near to Paimpol. Reached by a short boat trip the islands offer many rare plants and curious places to see. There are no cars but one can take a trip in a 'taxi'. This is a few carriages pulled by a tractor - strange, but a good way to see everything. Wonderful views and good restaurants in Paimpol."

'Lakeside Activities in Jugon'
"Jugon has a very large lake which attracts coarse fishermen It also offers many watersports including windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. Bikes can also be hired and many interesting rides are recommended."

'Local Fetes and Festivals'
"There are many local events. Look out for a Kermasse. This is a summer fete or a Fez Noz - an evening of local dancing, great fun. In the summer the Fete du Pain is a huge local event showing country skills of bygone times. In October the Fete de Chataignes is another opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps eat hot chestnuts whilst watching country crafts."

'Mont St Michel'
"Another must see is Mont St Michel - a World Heritage Site since 1979. The abbey towers out of the flat surrounding land, reached by a causeway, it can be seen from miles away. "

'Parc Zoologique de la Bourbansais'
"There are several zoos locally but probably the best is Bourbansais. It is well set out to see the animals and offers a nice car park where one can picnic under the trees before going in. There is also a spectacular display of birds of prey and tours of the chateau."

'St Malo'
"St Malo is an old walled town. Badly damaged by the Allies during the war to remove the Germans, It was reconstructed as the original. One can walk round the ramparts or wander in the alleys among boutiques, restaurants and local buskers. "

'Swimming Pool'
"Overlooking the lake in Jugon is a recently modernised outdoor swimming pool with slides, childrens pool and sunbathing areas."

'The Port of Dinan'
"The port of Dinan offers a big choice of very good, reasonably priced restaurants. One can eat outside overlooking the river with the chance to hire a boat or go on a larger pleasure boat to see the interesting buldings along the River Rance."

Markets and Shopping

'Markets and Supermarkets'
"Most days a large market can be found somwehere near. Lamballe and Dinan are the nearest but on Saturday Dinard offers a huge and varied market not to be missed. There is also a good choice of large supermarkets and hypermarkets."
