| Location and activities: | The tranquil setting of Le Baron Perché is a superb location for a family /activity holiday, or simply relaxing in the sun and exploring the many charms of this attractive region. The thriving little town of La Londe les Maures, (8 minutes by car) lying mid-way between Le Lavendou and Hyeres, offers a wide range of facilities - shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants and bistros - and a wonderful Sunday market where locally grown produce, cheeses, bread, olive oils and Provencal delicacies are to be found. In Port Miramar (10 minutes by car), you'll find watersports, a sub-aqua school, boat trips to the islands of Porquerolles and Port Cros, cycle hire and a host of bars and bistros clustered round the marina. Between Port Miramar and Fort Bregancon, site of the French President's summer residence, is a succession of white sandy beaches with safe bathing and charming bistros and cafe-bars. The La Londe Route des Vins comprises 30+ vineyards in this unspoiled and sun-drenched region and a holiday here is incomplete without a visit to at least one of them! Most welcome visitors without an appointment and offer wine-tasting and sales direct; you may also like to consider a holiday when the two-day La Londe Wine Festival is held in mid-April. The extensive and beautiful coastal paths are a great attraction for walkers and a sea-trip to the nearby islands of Porquerolles and Port Cros, the former haunts of pirates, is a great day out. Historic Aix-en-Provence, fashionable St Tropez and Le Lavendou to the east and Bandol and Cassis to the west are all within easy reach. Golf at Valcros (1km), plus 4 more quality courses within 45 minutes' drive. Further details of local golf courses are available on request. The area enjoys mild, largely sunny winters and hot (30C) summers - ideal for a holiday at any time of year. |
