Hunters Retreat is a 5 acre fishing lake in the Loire, 10 minutes away from the historical town of Châteaubriant and 4km from the picturesque village of St Aubin des Châteaux which has all the amenities you will need, including a bar which does meals. It is also only 5 minutes to our local crêperie/restaurant.

We, Pam and Mark, moved from the UK in 2001 and have set up a very successful self catering holiday home business with 2 cottages set in 17 acres of private land, which also has 2 small fishing lakes one for each cottage with carp up to 25lb, plus perch, tench, roach, common mirror, grass and Crucian carp.

The Exclusive 5 Acre  Carp fishing lake was bought in 2004 and was completely emptied and de-silted. Mark being an avid angler restocked it with mirror, common, grass and wild carp plus 3 sturgeon, pike and black bass. The lake was re-opened in 2009 and the lake record stands at a 45lb 14oz common carp Adrian caught it breaking his PB - (pictured above). All the fish are in pristine condition and are gaining weight all the time. Night fishing is allowed. Only microbarbed hooks are allowed, no lead core or trebles. No live baiting, particles if prepped correctly, boiles etc.

As a new venture the business was built on our reputation for quality and expertise to ensure you have a great holiday and want to return. Fishing is limited to 3 fishermen at a time to ensure the fish remain in good condition. Bbqs allowed at the lakeside. You will also have exclusivity if you book the lake, so no-one else will be fishing alongside you. You will have complete solitude apart from the wildlife!

If you want a family holiday or you are a keen angler you have exclusive use of a mobile home with a double and a twin bedroom. Shower room with shower and sink. Separate wc. Open plan lounge, kitchen/diner with plenty of cupboard space, microwave, cooker, electric oven, all the china and utensils you will need for a perfect holiday. French doors leading on to a covered decked area, excellent space for eating outside in all weathers. Table, chairs, bbq,  sunloungers. 

There is also a caravan which sleeps 2 with a small kitchen area, cooker, fridge and plenty of cupboard space.   

There is also a baiting chalet with everything you will need. Shower room with mains shower, wc, sink, small kitchen with fridge-freezer, microwave, cooker, sink and a selection of utensils and china. Barbecue, table and chairs. 

Parking on site with a lockable gate.
