17th century lovingly converted barn situated in a small hamlet near Sigournais in glorious countryside is the place to unwind.
The house with a 90 square metre courtyard is situated on the other side of the road to the barn.
A perfect base to explore rural France and to enjoy the history, attractions, excellent climate and charm of the Vendee. Spend a day on the Atlantic beaches of Sable d'Olonne, La Tranche or La Faute or alternatively take a boat out in the Marais Poitevin (the 'Green Venice' of France). The cities of Nantes and Poitiers are within easy striking distance by car for superb restaurants and shopping. Plus, Sigournais is only 25km from the Puy du Fou theme park, the second most popular tourist attraction in France after the Eiffel Tower.
Local sights include restaurants, markets, picturesque villages, lakes for swimming (5 mins away), swimming pool in Chantonnay, fishing, watersports, forests, horse riding, golf, walking, cycling, châteaux, bird life, and beaches. See our website for more details.
The shop at Sigournais is only 5 minutes away whilst the nearest large shopping centre is just 10 minutes away in Chantonnay.

The barn is spacious, has plenty of natural light and is furnished to the highest standard for 6 guests.
Accommodation comprises double bedroom, living room with sofabed, kitchen/dining area, mezzanine with 2 single beds, large shower room with wc and separate wc.
The kitchen includes oven, hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher.
The property has central heating and wood burning fire. Dvd, video player, cd players.
Garden furniture, bbq. Bed linen and towels provided free. Baby items (bath, cot, highchair, playpen etc) on request. Wi-fi enabled.
The house has 2 bedrooms. There is a sofa bed in the lounge and one bedroom has a double bed, the second has 2 or 3 single beds with an en suite.

| Nearest restaurant: | Kinours is approx a 5 minute drive away where you can lunch with the locals on 5 courses with unlimited wine for approx 10 Euros. Saturnin is approx a 5 minutes walk, this is a bar but also does workmen's lunches week days and food, lunch and evenings at weekends but will open especially for you week day evenings, but you have to book. There are lots of restaurants in Chantonnay that cater for all tastes. |
| Location and activities: | Spend a day at the beaches of Sable d'Olonne, La Tranche or La Faute, take a boat out in the Marais Poitevin (the green Venice of France). Go for lunch in La Rochelle and antique hunt in the afternoon or see the sights. The Lac du Rochereau, is 5 minutes from the Barn and probably one of the most beautiful spots you have ever seen. You can swim from its beach, take a boat out, have a picnic, admire and paint the views or try fishing for carp. Go for a day's sightseeing or shopping in Nantes or Poitiers. Nearby there is horse riding, horse racing, surfing, watersports, cycling, running, golfing and even night clubs for the enegetic! Also there is ballooning, bird-watching, walks, forests, canoeing and many places of historic interest, markets, a zoo, villages, lots of bars and restaurants for the not so energetic. Sigournais is only 25km from the Puy du Fou, the second biggest tourist attraction in France after the Eiffel tower. This is a spectacular day out for all the family. |
| Bedrooms: | Properties can be let together or separately. The Barn.Two bedrooms, sleeps maximum of 6 people. Bedroom 1 has a double bed which is an antique French double bed. There are fitted wardrobes and a seating area in the bay window. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds on the mezzanine, this was originally the hay loft when the barn was built. Because of this, the headroom is low but quaint, yet adequate. There are 2 large fitted wardrobes, one for clothes and the other for suitcases, etc. If there are 5 guests as in a couple and 3 children we can put an extra bed on the mezzanine - please advise when booking. We can also provide up to 2 cots for a babies but please let us know that you need this at the time of booking. The House. Two bedrooms, sleeps maximum of 7 people. Bedroom 1 has a double bed. Bedroom 2 has 2 or 3 single beds and an en suite. |

| Living area: | Comfy seating for 6 people. Sofabed. There is a wood burning fire in the living area - wonderful in the winter. It is a no smoking house due to the enormous amount of wood in the property. There is a smoke alarm and fire extinguisher for safety. |
| Entertainment on-site: | There are a number of books, adults and childrens games, cds, dvds for adults and children. |
| Outside: | Patio with tables, chairs, benches, bbq, parasol etc. Looks over the fields which belong to the property. The house comes with a 90sq metre courtyard. |
