Situated in the small hamlet of Les Moueux, La Valette is within easy access of the cross-channel ferry ports of Caen (60km) or Cherbourg (123km).
Our local village, Montchauvet, 2km, has a friendly shop and bar.
The larger market town of Le Beny Bocage, 8km, has a mini-market, a butcher, 2 bakeries, a chemist, a Post Office (for ATM) and a restaurant.
For a range of supermarkets and shops, cultural and leisure activities and its famous sausage, then Vire (20km) can provide. Visit the tourist office for details of its many organised events, concerts, guided walks, etc. (most of which are free!) throughout the summer.
Spectacular Mont St. Michel, the beautiful medieval town of Bayeux, and the D-Day Landing Beaches are absolute musts.
Calvados (14) is famous for its picturesque apple orchards and lush pastureland which produce the highest quality apple brandy and cider; and delicious cream, butter and cheeses.
