If you don't want to drive miles, yet love the ambience of France, the cottage is 20 minutes coastal drive from Cherbourg ferry port, overlooking fields to the sea. The beach (which you can swim from) is about a 10 minutes walk down a farm track or a 2 minutes drive.
The cottage which is in the middle of the delightful village of Le Tôt de Haut is about 200 years old and is full of character. Good sized living room with ancient grandfather clock, beamed ceiling and stone fireplace, English tv, dvd and video player. Well equipped kitchen with modern appliances. Three bedrooms accommodating two couples or a family of up to 5. Log fire and oil heating for cooler months.
Sheltered south facing small walled garden. Rent includes electricity, logs, local taxes.
The cottage is an ideal centre for touring, walking, eating or just reading/sleeping in the garden. Normandy beaches and museums within easy reach, good markets and plenty of pretty coastal walks and tiny harbours to explore.
