"Chateau de Labaurie is so beautifully situated on the edge of Chalais in extensive grounds, which have been developed beautifully into a tranquil location. All of our very large family enjoyed the use of the pool and it was so nice to share it with other families who were on holiday there too, which kept everyone happy. The site is small enough to be peaceful, but large enough not to feel isolated - for us, a perfect combination! The Chateau is also well located to visit the local markets and we particularly enjoyed a canoe ride along the river from Aubeterre and some nearby lake beaches. We can highly recommend the Chateau de Labaurie as a relaxed place to take your family away on holiday".

Peaceful and refreshing La Sellerie

"The chateau and grounds are the perfect embodiment of France. The Joli Coin was simple and clean with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Bev & Elaine had thought of everything to entertain lively children (large pool, badminton/volley ball nets, football pitch & undercover table tennis/darts with all equipment) and energetic adults or to allow those who wished it, peace, tranquility & relaxation. They are friendly and helpful hosts who are there if needed but do not intrude. We had a fabulous time and sincerely hope to return

"First impressions are very good. The Chateau overlooks the main road and the instructions for getting up the hill and into the driveway were good (sometimes these will drive you mad if they are wrong as you are always tired after the drive).
The property was very clean and well presented and the tv worked for UK sat as in the brochure.When there was a problem as minor shortage in the kitchen, our hosts (Elaine and Mr Bev) addressed it straight away.
There was plenty of sunbeds outside each unit facing the pool and a lot more actually around the pools edge.
You must try the food at the local Chateau recommended by Elaine. The food was excellent and very good value (and the owner speaks good English also 50% of there patrons are UK people). The village of Aubeterre is close by and a visit to St Emillion is a must. We only had time to go to Bordeaux for one day. You must try the park and ride its so good and very cheap

A Holiday to Remember Le Joli Coin

Twenty years ago we first visited Labourie in the very early stages of renovation of the Chateau when we wondered how on earth anyone could be brave enough to try to restore it! We loved it even then and were so pleased to return in 2007 especially to meet our wonderful hosts Bev and Elaine again and to see the amazing transformation of the Chateau. The warmth of our welcome was second to none and the meal we enjoyed in the lovely dining room that first evening was fit for a king. We opted to stay in La Jolie which was delightful for Bed and Breakfast with excellent facilities for self catering. The water was always piping hot and it was all spotlessly clean and we had several lovely days either exploring the beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside or basking in the sunshine by the side of the swimming pool. Each morning Elaine would arrive with our breakfast of fresh croissants and fruit We were only sorry we could not stay longer. The peace was bliss!
We know there is plenty to do in the area, good places at which to eat and the town of Chalais is delightful. We cannot recommend Labourie highly enough and neither can we wait to return."
