Welcome to La Rose Tremiere, a renovated 18th century self catering character cottage, furnished to a high standard with superb secluded salt water swimming pool. Set in peaceful countryside, you can simply relax in the sun by the pool and enjoy outside living in your own private, fully equipped covered barbecue area. This cottage is the only one on the site and you will have the use of all the amenities.

Situated in the small quiet hamlet of La Petite Tranchee, you are surrounded by the country market towns of Chef Boutonne (the nearest 10 mins by car), Melle, Sauze Vaussais and Lezay (the furthest 15 mins) where you can experience rural French markets and a range of local restaurants, supermarkets etc.

The local area is ideal for walking, cycling and fishing or touring in the tranquillity of the beautiful French countryside, which is inspiring and appreciated for its landscape by painters, or for a day out drive to Cognac, Poitiers, Niort, Angouleme and the Atlantic coast at La Rochelle, Ile de Re etc for beautiful beaches and watersports.

The Cottage
The single storey cottage has high sloping ceilings and tiled floors throughout. The level of the floor has slight variations between rooms. The open plan living area is in the middle of the accommodation. It is light and airy with original stone walls, oak beams and a logburner, with comfortable seating. The dining/kitchen area is at the other end. There are 2 double bedrooms located either side of the living area. A total floor area of 900 sq ft (83 sq mtr).

The cottage is fully insulated and double glazed throughout, with all the rooms having electric radiators. The cottage is lovely and cool in the summer but warm and cosy in the winter. There is a cd and dvd system so remember to bring your favourite music and films. Table tennis is situated in a covered barn where a variety of bicycles are also stored.

Open plan living/kitchen/dining area with original oak beams, stone walls with a logburner and comfortable sofas.

‘L’ shaped kitchen with a tiled worktop, integrated electric oven/grill, 4 burner gas hob, fridge-freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher and equipped with all the normal culinary utensils. Dining table and chairs.

The bathroom is spacious with a fully tiled shower area, washbasin and toilet. All modern fixtures and fittings provide a pleasant and clean environment.

Bedroom 1 has an original fireplace and oak beams, king size double bed.

Bedroom 2 has a high ceiling with oak beams, original stone wall french doors leading out to the courtyard, twin single beds.

Outside area, attached, roofed outside living area overlooking the rear garden with table, chairs and barbecue. Situated across the courtyard are the main house and barns (where the friendly English owners live). Adjoining the end wall is the swimming pool also overlooking the rear garden and fields. It is quite private, surrounded by paving and has its own covered terrace, with sunloungers. The rest of the flat lawned garden has trees and is fenced with a gated entrance with secure parking places, approximately 3,500 sq m.

Swimming pool. The 8 x 4m salt water swimming pool is operational from May until September (weather permitting). This type of salt water is a less intrusive type of cleaning/sterilising system that is better for the skin and eyes than the normal chlorine type.

Please note, the weekly rental includes electricity, gas, holiday tax and all bed linen but not towels for the house or swimming pool. Towel hire is available at £20 per week. There are no other additional charges for any amenities that are provided ie barbecue, sunloungers, table tennis, cycles, pool toys etc.
