Spacious and beautifully restored farmhouse situated in a small farming hamlet close to St Loup sur Thouet, Airvault. A small river runs nearby the property with village lavoir. A small pushchair, cot and highchair are available on request. This is a no smoking property.

 

Attractions nearby include Parthenay (Weds market), Poitiers - Futuroscope, Niort Venise Vert, Pescalis centre. At Saumur: Cadre Noire, Tank Museum and numerous caves for a tour round and taste of the locally produced sparkling wine. A short drive provides variety of restaurants catering for most tastes. ""The list is endless but the nearest one at Oiron is great fun. It was immortalised as the home of the Marquis of Carabas in Puss in Boots. It is now a contemporary art museum with exhibits linked to the château’s history and organised round the memory of exhibitions of unusual and wonderful objects, combining human and natural creations. 'Abbey of Fontevrault'
""We always try and take our visitors to this wonderful complex of buildings in a beautiful village on the road from Loudun, north to the Loire river. Fontevrault was a "double house" - that is, a monastery and a nunnery within one complex. It was the burial place of the Plantagenet dynasty who ruled in England and large parts of France from 1154 to 1485. At one time, there were 15 Plantagenet tombs - only 4 remain. 'Wakeboard at Moncontour'
""The wakeboard or teleski park at Moncontour is almost unique and totally silent. It consists of a wire suspended above the lake. People are pulled around on the same principle as a ski drag lift but as they get better they weave in and out, jump and do turns. 'Zoo at Doué'
""This zoo is perhaps one of France's best and is a fabulous day out. As you head down to the entrance you wonder what awaits you, but all is revealed when you realize that the zoo is sited in an old quarry with much evidence of troglodytic dwellings. This makes it ideal for a hot, sunny day as there is lots of shade provided by the great variety of trees, bamboo and acacias. The more than 500 animals have lots of space to roam in their enclosures and there are many opportunities to watch the animals being fed and listen to talks throughout the day (although these are only in French). ""The nearest supermarket is Airvault which closes for lunch. There are lots of excellent small boutique shops in Parthenay, Thouars, Niort and Poitiers. Those locations and many others have large supermarkets, most are closed on Sundays with the exception of SuperU at Neuville open until lunchtime. The large ones stay open throughout the day but the smaller ones close for lunch at least from 12.30 - 2.30 pm." "
