Owners Recommendations

Eating Out

'Angles sur l'Anglin'
"In the beautiful village of Angles-sur-l'Anglin approximately 4 miles away, is the beautiful Lyon d'Or Hotel offering a superb menu or equally the bistro style family friendly pizza restaurant with outside tables overlooking the gorge."

'St Savin'
"In the beautiful cathedral square of St Savin are several excellent restaurants ranging from Michelin Star cuisine to casual outside dining for couples and families alike. We love the atmosphere and will often just visit the square for mid morning coffee."

Local Area and Activities

'Angles-sur-l'Anglin'
"One of our favourite places in France is the village of Angles-sur-l'Anglin with its beautiful cobbled streets, gushing river, castle ruins and amazing floral displays. The village certainly earns the 'Village Fleuris' title awarded to it."

'Chauvigny'
"The market castle town of Chauvigny lies approximately 15 miles from our house and we would thoroughly recommend a visit either to the restaurants, markets or a visit to the ancient castle ruins and eagle displays. Chauvigny is also home to the 'velo rail' - well worth a fun family trip out."

'Poitiers - Futuroscope'
"Futuroscope is enormous fun for all members of the family - we have had great days there and normally without the enormous queues associated with other theme parks."

Markets and Shopping

'Chauvigny'
"Chauvigny boasts excellent markets with the largest and most interesting being on a Saturday. It is an interesting place to visit with a diversity of produce from unusual cheeses, paellas made insitu, excellent range of clothing, music, household goods, mussels, local caught fish and even Chinese food -quite a rarity in central France. We never visit without calling in on this market."

'St Savin Market'
"St Savin has an excellent market on a Friday between approximately 8am and noon. Loads of local flowers, cheeses, vegetables and meats. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a small and friendly market."
