A typical entry in our guestbook: "At the end of our 2 week stay in Farmhouse Cottage, it is difficult to find enough superlatives to use in praise of this idyllic house, its glorious peaceful garden, the fantastic swimming pool and, of course, its generous, welcoming owners - Peter and Jane! And whoever has been in charge of the weather .... could not have done a better job either!" |

What to See and Do
Owners Recommendations
'Every Budget'
"Within 5 miles there is a restaurant to suit everyones pocket from the Michelin Star restaurant at Little Pressigny to the local Auberge at Abilly. "
'French Markets and Village Shopping'
"The local village has a variety of shops and cafes grouped round the village square and medieval church. There is a weekly market that caters for all your needs. Supermarkets range from the local grocers to the larger supermarkets that are 15 minutes by car. The medieval town of Loche, just 30 minutes away, holds twice weekly markets in the cobbled streets below the impressive Chateau and its medieval ramparts.
For the more serious shoppers there is Tours and Poitiers, both of which are about an hour away. "
'Things to Do'
"The local village, Le Grand Pressigny, is just a over a mile away. It has its own chateau and a new exhibition building (opened Sept 2009) to focus on the region’s importance in the Neolithic period. Tennis court hire, horse riding sessions and fishing permits can be bought locally. Approx one hour away are the Chateaux of Chenonceau, Langeais, Amboise, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry, Usse, Chinon, Valancy and the medieval towns of Richelieu and Montresor. Just 35 minutes away is the bustling, medieval town of Loche with its twice weekly markets and fine chateau on the hill overlooking the town. To the south there is Futuroscope at Poitiers. A futuristic, interactive media centre with fun for the whole family.
Scattered within the small local villages are the more intimate family chateaux that characterise the local area, where time has stood still and the beauty and grandeur of the buildings is there for all to see.
There are two golf courses within easy driving distance catering for both the amateur and champion golfers."
