Owners Recommendations

'Historical Bastide Towns'
"Montaigu itself may only have 12th century chateau walls left on its hill but other beautiful Bastide villages close by include Lauzerte, Tournan, Montcuq and Penne d'Agenais with its 19th century basilique. Many of these, together with the classical cloisters at Moissac, feature on the pilgrims route to Santiago de Compostella."

'Local Attractions'
"Very close by are the Fermeraie de Jougla which is a leisure and animal park and Parc Naturoland at Port de Penne. For adults there is the Chateau Bonaguil at Fumel, Chateau Brassac, the grottos at Lastournels, Space City at Toulouse, the Agen Prune Museum and fascinating is the Cahors Resistance Museum, the only one in France."

'Night and Farm Markets'
"Apart from the major Saturday market in Montaigu itself and the Sunday morning market in Roquecor nearby enjoy the summer Friday evening market at Tournan d'Agenais, brocantes and fruit markets."

'Walks and Churches'
"The tourist office can provide a guide to 100km of paths for exploring by foot, mountain bike or horseback. There are 24 churches in the Montaigu parish alone, including 2 at Gouts and Pervillac with XV-XVI century wall paintings. At Roquecor, about half an hour walk from Montaigu, there is a troglodyte cave site. There are great places to picnic."
