Come to Charente, 2nd sunniest region of France after the Med, and renowned for vines, wines, Cognac and Pineau. Other local specialities include foie gras, and goat and ewe cheeses. Beautiful countryside with lots of flowers and wildlife not found in Britain.

Our cottages are just 5 mins from Mansle, market town with shops, bars and restaurants, as well as canoeing, fishing and tennis. Nearby too are golf, riding, lake and river beaches.

Days out include (1) Angoulême - cathedral city, nearby caves, chocolate factory and paper mills (2) Cognac - distilleries, and historic châteaux (3) Limoges - porcelain, motor museum, working steam train and nearby WWII martyr village (4) Poitiers - Futuroscope, cathedral city and nearby caves. (5) La Rochelle and Royan - beaches, zoos.

The cottages, modernised Charentais workers homes, are situated amongst sunflowers and woods in the grounds of our 12th century manor house.  Ideal location for bird-watching, walking, cycling or just relaxing by the pool.

Small cottage is for 2 people (1 double bedroom).

Large cottages are for 4/5 people (1 double, 1 triple bedroom).

The cottages are clean and fresh with exposed limestone walls, tiled floors, pine fittings and furniture. Each has a well-equipped living room/kitchen with settees, dining furniture, fridge, cooker, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Washing machine is optional extra in large cottages. Laundry service available for all cottages. We also supply tourist information, books and magazines, bicycles, BBQ's, garden furniture,

Outside, the cottages overlook the gardens onto a fenced sun patio (with sunloungers) surrounding the large (40' x 20') pool (open May to Oct). Each cottage has parking and garden.

There is a small extra charge for linen hire, pets, electricity (including heating - usually in low season).
