No other house in sight, just meadows and trees. 8 minutes walk through our meadows takes you to the picturesque River Vienne. Our meadows stretch about 800 feet along the river. The river banks are high but there are two places where you can get down to the water easily. Lovely for picnics, fishing, etc.

Accommodation. One bedroom and comprising 2 large rooms with a central corridor leading into an attached barn. The shower room is off a further corridor (2 steps down) in the barn. From the living room, you step out through a pair of glazed doors onto a stone terrace, with views across a large tree-lined meadow, and beyond to the wooded hillside rising on the other side of the River Vienne.

Location and activities:	The nearest village is Manot (approx 2 miles) where there is a general store, patisserie and Post Office. Attractions close by include the "Velorail" at Manot - pedal along a disused rail track running through beautiful countryside from Confolens to Roumazieres. Pretty swimming lake and a chateau at Etagnac. Confolens - medieval bridge and houses, mid-August folk music festival and fabulous chocolate cake at a traiteur called Daniel Gerbaud.

General:	Electric heaters in all rooms. The first floor/attic is not used. The attached barn is used as storage for the deck chairs, barbecue, wood for stove and 2 bikes. The housekeeper and gardener are an English couple living nearby at Cellefrouin (10 miles). We ask our farming tenants not to put animals on the land between the house and the river when we have tenants at the house.
