Each year on1 May, a large Brocante/Vide Grenier takes place in the pretty, historical village of Moncontour on the border of Vienne and Deux Sevres. There are over 150 stalls, increasing each year.

For great open-air shopping, spend the morning at Les Herolles. One of the largest markets in France, it has been here for over 400 years.
You can see livestock, poultry and rare breeds as well as buy food from honey to freshly baked bread, local fruit and vegetables, plants, garden tools and more. Arrive early. Pay parking.

This artistic town is full of book-related crafts and is one of France’s book publishing capitals. Festival of classical and chamber music held in La Roche Posay, Vienne. A series of 4 headline events (admission charge) as well as a hundred short performances, free of charge, by young musicians, talented amateurs and students.
