Nord Pas de Calais will appeal to keen walkers - there are over 200 waymarked walking trails. The variety of walks is huge - choose whether to hike through undulating farmland or along the coast or perhaps an organised walk around Old Lille is more you. On the coast, the GR121 can take you to Boulogne-sur-Mer. Head south on the GR Littoral and the GR21 as far as Dieppe. Along your way, look out for Estaminets de Randonnee which only exist in Nord pas de Calais. They are traditional cafes situated alongsde walking and cycling routes. They offer local food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere - a welcome sigh for hikers and bikers.
