Cote d'Or Holidays

The golden hills of the Cote d'Or stretching south from the regional capital, Dijon, give their name to the department of Cote d'Or. On their south east facing slopes, vines for the world famous Burgundy wines are grown, producing reds from the Cotes de Nuits region and whites such as Mersault from Cote de Beaune. Steep 'coombes' or valleys above the vines are a paradise for rock climbers Make a springtime visit to the vineyards to avoid the crowds, or at harvest time when the air is heavy with the scent of grape juice. Use walking and cycle trails and look for signs saying 'degustation gratuit' for a free tasting.
