Normandy, with 400 miles of coastline, is ideal for sea fishing, either shore casting or fishing by boat for bream, sea bass, mackerel and other species. Inland, the River Selune, one of the most famous salmon rivers in France which runs into the sea at Mont St Michel, has trout, carp, eel, and pike as well as salmon. The Rivers Vire and Douve are also known for salmon and trout fishing and many other species of fish. There are numerous lakes throughout Normandy to catch carp - one such is the lake at Argentan. Fishing permits can be bought at any tabac, tackle shop or Post Office.
