About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr John Allsopp

We are pensioners living in Cornwall and first visited S W France 20 years ago and have spent many holidays there since. We purchased the barns in 2004 and have filled our retirement years renovating the barns. We have four grandchildren and they love visiting the property where they have plenty of outside space and river beaches and lakes to visit .

Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? We fell in love with this quiet, original area of South West France. Lovely neighbours and beautiful quiet countryside.
Unique benefits of property It is in quiet countryside, good access to interesting towns and local villages, and river beaches nearby. Good outside space if you have a dog and plenty of fresh fruit in the orchard.

When we arrived at the barn we were surprised at how spacious the property was and thought the pictures didn't do it justice. The beds were comfortable and the facilities helpful. The fact it has a full sized freezer and a washing machine were a big bonus for us as a family with younger children. There was plenty of things for the boys to do with all the games left in the shed. The majority of their time was spent honing their badminton skills. They enjoyed picking fruit that was almost falling off the branches. As we keep chicken,s the boys enjoyed seeing the ones next door and were really pleased to se the new chicks coming over to the fence. There is a field of sunshine (sunflowers) at the end of the garden which was a bonus.
The owner left a helpful folder on areas to visit, emergency details and recycling information. We cannot thank John enough for making the holiday go smoothly.
There is a supermarket about five minutes drive down the road, and a couple a bit further on. We ate at Chez Fred and found the staff very friendly and the food good value. We regularly went to the river beaches in Aubeterre which has a reasonably priced snack bar and play area for the kids. Brantome was a nice place for a lazy walk around shops or a nice meal.
We would highly recommend these barns as a great family/group get away that is very good value for money, and would like to thank John for letting us use it for a very hot two weeks.

Owner response

Thank you, lovely comments. The sunshine, chicken and sunflowers, we can't always guarantee, but are a bonus. John Allsopp
