Have just returned from a week here and was very sad to leave.

Two families holidaying together and we rented both gites. This was the perfect set up for us.

The hosts are brilliant. We were greeted with cake and drinks on arrival, and they hosted a BBQ for the first evening. This was really appreciated after the long drive there, and all the food was lovely. They really can't do enough for you. I have never stayed with a host on site before and was a bit worried, but i had no need to worry. We arrived as guests and left as friends.

The gites are lovely, clean and well equipped. The gardens and pool are also lovely. The pool was most appreciated on the very hot days!

We took our dog with us and he was made as welcome as we were.

Neuvic is very close and a small village, but lovely. Slightly further out is St Astier, with more going on.
A few minutes drive from the gites is a river with activities like segway, electric boats and mini golf. All really reasonably priced. We also did kayaking, again about 5 minutes from the gites.

All in all a fantastic holiday and we will hopefully return.

Owner response

It was really lovely to welcome you here, and i do hope we will see you all again,. We were also included in your holiday, and we felt as if you were family. It was nice for us too. Dave loved having Jasper here, think he would have a dog if we could! Thank you for your kind remarks, it makes it all worthwhile , see you next year?

A picturesque former tobacco barn converted into rustic gites. There are plenty of places to sit in sun or shade and there is absolutely no traffic noise - just the sound of birds and animals. The nearest town of Neuvic-sur-l'Isle is 5 minutes drive with a range of essential shops, a twice-weekly market and excellent supermarket. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.

Quiet and Peaceful area in rural France, but within striking distance of Bordeaux,Perigueux, Bergerac and the Dordogne.

Dave and Bunty made us more than welcome and were able to recommend French eating houses within the local area.

This was a return visit to "Les Herrisons" .

Owner response

It was lovely to see you both again, we are glad you had a nice holiday. Perhaps we will see you are in 2016?

A peaceful, rustic retreat, far from the madding crowd, yet it's close to many of the major sights of the Dordogne, especially Périgueux and Bergerac.
A welcome pack of essentials is provided and the local supermarket is only 5 minutes drive.
The hosts are very friendly and, as they live on site, are always available for help with planning trips and local information.
The accommodation consists of two rooms and an ensuite bathroom.
Cooking facilities are basic but sufficient for holiday requirements.
The bedroom is very spacious, and the ensuite shower has recently been replaced with a powerful, efficient system.
The sofa and armchair in the main room are very comfortable, and there is UK TV by satellite. The thick walls and shutters ensure that the property remains cool even when the temperature exceeds 30c.

Owner response

Thank you for your review, it was lovely to meet you again, and we hope that we can welcome you to our little corner of the Dordogne next year.
