|Farmhouse and Barn||Self Catering||Saturday||5||10||2||plus double sofabed|
Tranquil, secluded, panoramic views, private 10 x 5m heated swimming pool, spacious living areas and mature gardens, games room. Two fully equipped kitchens and living rooms. Many outside eating areas. Large gamesroom with ping-pong, darts and 4 bicycles. Pool has large deck and beautiful views over the countryside. Lovingly restored farmhouse and tasteful contemporary barn conversion sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms. The countryside is designated as a national park with many beautiful walks. The nearest town Jumilhac-Le-Grand(5mins) has a fairy-tale château, a great restaurant, a very convenient supermarket, garage and open-air swimming pool.
The original building at Vaux is the 350 year old farmhouse. Some years ago we converted the adjacent barn which made two properties. A couple years later we discovered a way of combining the houses by using a small bedroom as a passageway from one to the other (see photos). That passageway can become a small bedroom for a child which has its own desk, small bed and small chest of drawers. This bedroom which can be locked is not part of the numbers of people Vaux can comfortably accommodate.
The House is occupied by our family for a couple of months of the year and is decorated to our taste and therefore has a more lived-in feel than a strictly commercial holiday home.
Had a fantastic time, views are stunning, visited the Chateau at Jumilhac fantastic! We couldn't get the kids out of the pool. Lovely seeing the wildlife especially the humming bird hawk moth. Thank you we will return. Bruce, Lesley, Joe, Heather and Louie 27/8/16

we had a nice holiday once we came to accept and get used to our environment
the bedrooms were nice and spacious and clean
be aware that this is two houses and two sets of stairs to reach the 4 upstairs bedrooms - 2 in each house therefore somewhat separated from each other if you have Children - you can chat though an upstairs internal window between the houses which was essential to keep in touch with children.
The pool was great
The decking around the pool is old and tired with ongoing repairs needed to trip hazards with some decking left loose - we asked the maintenance person to come and secure for us
some of the the pool edging was also loose and not safe to stand on
the new outside furniture was very welcome and comfortable
Did we enjoy our stay .yes we did ....the garden and surroundings were lovely and the 4 upstairs bedrooms were comfortable and cool with windows left open
