Delightful cottage with woodburning stove and radiators - so cosy in Winter months. Large living room with COMFY three-piece suite, large farmhouse dining table, bookcase with excellent selection of books. Music centre. Splendid wrought-iron curved stairway to first floor. In Summer months the roof terrace is in the sun most of the day and has table, chairs and parasol. We provide as a gift to our tenants six bottles of local wine (Berticot, Duras or similar) with our compliments. They will be in the wine rack to await your arrival.
There are 2 bedrooms each with a double bed, one being a traditional Dordogne honeymoon bed and more like a 3/4 than a double! There is also a z-bed. The house is well decorated French style and has lots of character. It is situated in a semi-pedestrianised street and it is a short stroll only to pavement cafes with parasols in the sun, the magnificent chateau, small supermarket, cash point, boulangeries and charcuteries, gourmet restaurant at an hotel in town.....we consider this in our experience to be one of the best restaurants in the whole of France....will you agree ?
We have an excellent cleaner who will have all ready for your arrival - fresh linen etc
Surrounding area has vineyards, prehistoric sites, chateau galore and village markets.
A wonderful area to spend your well earned holidays !
Kitchen has work surfaces, small oven, gas rings and storecupboards. Crockery modern 'Habitat' style.
Large living area with wood-burning stove, three piece suite, well decorated and furnished, ceiling fan, books and music centre.
Two bedrooms each with a double bed - chest of drawers and hanging rails.
On first floor instant hot water walk in shower. wash basin.
Toilet is on the ground floor
Wood burning stove very efficient - radiators in each bedroom, kitchen and wall heater in shower room. Movable large plug-in radiator to be placed where you wish.
No tv - there are numerous videos which we've recorded over the years from best films to 'an evening's entertainment. Video to tv only - we thought you wouldn't want tv on your hols' !
Music centre with hundreds of old LP's - very entertaining, cd player with cds. Jigsaws and chess set.
Roof terrace up stairs from kitchen - not suitable to those not fully mobile as French style and steep- although we've had an 80 year old stay who found them no trouble but just mentioning as small children will need supervision.
Street parking outside for approx one hour to load and unload suitcases or shopping. Longer term all FREE just up the road - info will be provided in our arrival details.
Not suitable for those with mobility problems (or for younger children) as wrought-iron curved stairway from living room to second floor. Also stairs up to roof terrace is steep.
For you 6 bottles of wine in wine rack on arrival.
Lots of leaflets in the cottage on places to visit, regular fascinating markets in Duras. Tourist Office next street but one, where you can get info on all things to visit. Vineyard tours, local walks, chateaux to visit etc etc etc.
Dont miss visiting the Chateau of Duraswith its museums, dungeon and ghost room. Regular wine fetes are held in the chateau courtyard where you purchase a wine glass (with Duras emblem and for you to keep) take this around each stall sampling the local producer's wines and buying a bottle or two when you come across something you like....aaah.
In our opinion one of the very best gourmet restaurants in France is at the Hotel des Ducs, Duras. Just a short stroll away- Sunday lunctime is best ! Of all the interesting sites we have seen is Roc St Christophe, prehistoric cliff dwellings- fascinating! but really there are many things to see and there are leaflets in the cottage for you.
