About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Brenda Archer

We first came to Montignac in 2001 for our family holiday and the kids loved it so much we came back every year for 7 years, then decided to make Le Four our Sel our home.

Owner's website www.lefourasel.com
Year property purchased 2008
Why this location? We love its peaceful location , being beside the river, the vast amount of greenspace and, yet easily accessible to shops and activities. The scenery and surrounding countryside even after 17 years of being here still takes our breath away - it's stunning, interesting (not flat but undulating) , lush and we continue to discover something new and different everytime.
Montignac is a lovely town, with its pretty riverside cafes & restaurants, and 2x weekly market. The nearby towns and villages like Sarlat and Terrasson offer additional choices-just 15-25 minutes away.Lots of village fetes, brocantes day & night markets so much to see and do and many activities like open air concerts are free during the summer.
Unique benefits of property -Lots of space-15 acres of private grounds for children to run around in &expel their energy plus lots more for others to find their own private corner
- Onsite facilities ,enough to keep everyone amused -no need to go sightseeing everyday): swimming pool, outdoor playground with swings, slides , climbing frame , a football area and several badminton areas , covered play area with table tennis ,many areas for al fresco dining, private fishing from dawn to dusk o your doorstep, enjoy picnics and BBQs beside the river without leaving the property, enclosed courtyard for petanque and badminton ,free Wifi in hotspots, lots of parking.
Excellent location-peaceful and secluded but NOT isolated- 5 minutes from amenities, 30 minutes to many Dordogne sites, you won’t need to drive too far to discover the area
Ideal for large groups the 3 houses are separate, enabling you to maintain your privacy as you still have your own front door with many communal areas for gathering together

Location setting for films like Joan of Arc and Chocolat, this beautiful Chateau was once under the siege of Richard the Lionheart .Perched on a cliff, providing one the most amazing 360 degree panoramic views.

Caves of Lascaux

One of France's most important prehistoric sites , the walls hold Beautifully subtle paintings and engravings of animals (15,000 renderings) , sophisticated artwork painted by prehistoric man 20,000 years ago. The original cave was discovered by chance in 1940 by 4 teenagers.

Superbly preserved Bastide town with rambling streets and fortified gateways in the town walls. Situated high above the river with breathtaking views of the Dordogne river and valley enjoyed from the viewpoint. Underneath the market square is a cave with stalagmites and stalactites.

La Roque Gageac

Has a most dramatic setting, and is featured in the Dordogne's postcards. Situated right beside the river, with many of its houses built directly into the face of the huge cliff that overhangs the village. Above this there are steep steps to incredible troglodyte caves with great views.

Well restored and most famous medieval town in the Dordogne with golden-ochre stone houses, a maze of narrow lanes and cobbled streets, its lively Saturday market must not be missed.
