Very child friendly with everything a short wak away including bakeries, a choice of restaurants, spas, nailbars, the ice cream shop and two supermarches (one of which is a brand new E. Leclerc in 2015).

There is also the possibility to hire bikes delivered to the property if ordered in advance, including baby and child seats, locks and baskets.

Adults can relax in various parts of the gardens and eat together under the shade of the abrey.  Enjoy a glass of wine in the evening under the St Emillion vine or take some exercise in the larger than normal fully fenced 14m heated swimming pool (27 degrees).  If you like the country that's just a short walk away too - into the hills where you can run, walk or bike forever or you might prefer to take the train for a shopping trip to Perigueux or a cultural visit to the wonderful city of Bordeaux.

The beautifully converted period cottage (sleeps 7) can be hired separately out of peak season - please see details and photos on our other page.

The gardens are secured with electric gates front and back and there is private parking for up to 4 cars.

We offer babysitting, home cooked food, French lessons, private pilates lessons and off site days out like colour me beautiful (cheaper than in the UK), cooking and photography courses.  We are located within easy reach of the many beautiful chateaux of the Dordogne, the historic towns of Auberterre and the wonder wine town of St Emillion.  Please ask for our top 10 list of things to do in the area or visit the tourist office a short stroll from the property. Free wifi in the house or in the town at Bar le Central (but you will need to buy a beer or coffee!).

In summer months the town plays host to various festivals and activities as well as antique brocants and night markets so there is always something to see or do or you can simply relax and read on a sun lounger in the beautiful gardens.

Beautiful property, in the centre of a good-sized town with all amenities. The main house has lovely proportions, with good kitchen and bathrooms, and the guest gite provided ample extra accommodation for our group of three families. Some of the furnishings were a bit worn, cot mattresses for example, and some stairs lacked the baby gates which we had been expecting - however the property agent helped us find workarounds to any issues. It was lovely to have a leisurely breakfast, pop out for a stroll into town and pick up lunch from the local shops or the large supermarket and stroll home, before spending the afternoon in the pool.
Being central there is some road noise, but for us this was a fair trade off for the central location and access to everything on foot. We only used the cars for day trips around the region, otherwise had everything within 5 mins walk.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and wish other families a lovely holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in St Astier. The market each week was wonderful. The town offers all day to day requirements only a short walk away. The house is perfect in the summer for outdoor enjoyment. We had young children who loved the trampoline, swimming pool, badminton and the grass area. Nice well appointed kitchen and bbq for cooking. With a large group there are plenty of places to enjoy either togetherness or quiet spots to relax. The lovely Heidi, who manages the place, was always on-hand to help with any queries.
To get out and about and take advantage of the location you need a car. There are many lovely little towns and places to visit not far away but a car is really the only way to see them.
The train is also good for the short trip to the fairly large town of Perigeaux which has quite a bit to offer.

My husband and our 3 year old twins stayed here in August 2016. The location of this property could not be better, right in the middle of a lively village. There is an excellent supermarket located behind the house. Within the village, are multiple bakeries and small restaurants and a market came to town on the Thursday. All of the facilities in this large house are high quality. My husband was impressed with the great BBQ. We had a small plumbing issue and Heidi, the housekeeper, was very responsive and fixed it quickly.

For young children, the garden is a paradise for play. A Wendy house, ride on toys and scooters, swings, slides, trampoline, and more... The pool is completely and securely fenced. The pool is also big enough to have a proper swim in. The garden is walled and also completely secure for small children once the gates are closed. All this meant I actually had moments to relax on holiday (a rarity) as the kids had so much to occupy themselves with.

There has not been a week in the 6 months since we stayed here that one of my 3 year olds doesn’t ask to come back here.

A big highlight for me was the village’s Fete du Canard. Food and drink were available to buy, long tables were set up for everyone to eat communally and a band played. Even as holiday makers we felt welcomed to the community, the kids stayed up hours past their bedtime dancing to the band and the memory of this night and our holiday in Saint Astier will last a long time.

The property is absolutely ideal for a group with young children (under 10). Very good swimming pool, big trampoline and lots of other activities for kids within the property.
Property is completely secure so the kids can't get out for complete peace of mind.
Le Petit Chateau had everything we needed.
Our dealings with the owners were very quick and easy and totally satisfactory.
The person managing locally was also very good and very friendly.

We came with high hopes and Le Petit Chateaux absolutely exceeded our expectations.
We would certainly recommend this property.
