We moved to Hautefort from the San Francisco bay area in 2004, and we love it here. It's one of the most beautiful areas of France that has so much history and sites that we are still discovering new places to visit! Our guests often tell us that they didn't realize how wonderful this area is!
|Year property purchased||2003|
|Why this location?||Hautefort is in the centre of the Dordogne. It's not in the middle of the heavily touristed crowded areas, where you have to fight with traffic! You can easily get to the best tourist sites, but then leave the crowds to relax in the calm quiet of our property. Listen to the birds, crickets, and frogs. Drive stunning country roads and within 45 minutes, in any direction, there are amazing sites to enjoy! Day trips abound! Even 2 of the most beautiful villages of France 2015 are near!|
|Unique benefits of property||People feel like they are at home here, and we enjoy so much meeting our guests, and enjoying a glass of wine and a good chat! You will feel like this is your home in France! Location Location Location! Les Gites Fleuris has the feel of being away from it all, but you can walk to everything you need. Many gites have the countryside experience, but if you want a baguette you have to drive to get it. not here! Visit the world famous and crowded tourist sites, but then come home to your cottage in the calm!|

Well preserved medieval village, with a wonderful market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings! This lovely village is often used in films as a classic medieval village setting!
Local farms welcome visitors! Goat cheese, Foie gras, walnut are just a few within Hautefort!
We spent a lovely Christmas week at the cottage.
