A warm welcome to La Maison des Papillons.This charming property is in an area which has something for everyone, there are bikes for use in the storage barn and also sun loungers for those who would prefer to relax.The property has a living room, well equipped kitchen, downstairs bathroom and two double bedrooms.The cottage has been restored to a high standard but retains character, the living room has a wood burning stove with a good supply of seasoned wood available for burning. The cottage is 2km from Payzac on the Route de Pompadour nestling on the slopes of the Auvezere Valley. Set in its own natural surroundings of approximately three quarters of an acre, the cottage has a fenced lawned garden and parking for several cars.
Beyond the fenced garden is an old orchard and also an area of woods which is adjacent to other woodland and which is a naural habitat for the ares wildlife.There have been some sightings of deer and wild boar and it is a haven for bird watching.The exterior of the property has two areas for seating and there is a variety of garden furniture including a parasol, and a table and chairs stored in the barn. There are also four bikes available to take advantage of the well established cycling area.
The two character bedrooms are decorated to a high standard, well furnished and both have oil fired radiators. Both bedrooms enjoy views of the village of Payzac and the attractive countryside or the woods and the orchard. The modern bathroom is also well decorated and although compact does have a bath.The kitchen is well appointed and has a table with four chairs.This is an ideal destination to enjoy the delights of the Dordogne and Limousin regions. It is also close to Chateau Durantie which is a major wedding venue and our cottage is popular with visitors who are attending weddings at the chateau and wish to holiday in the area. It is a great all the year round destination because of the variety of places to visit and also the different activities that can be pursued including fishing, cycling and birdwatching.
The kitchen is well equipped with a dining table and four chairs, gas hob/oven and good sized fridge
The living room is a good size with a wood burning stove and the room looks onto the spacious garden
On the first floor are two good sized double bedrooms both well furnished with good storage space
The bathroom is on the ground floor and has been well modernised with both a bath and a shower
There is a wood burning stove in the living room and oil filled radiators in both bedrooms
The property is set in its own ground with three quartes of an acre to explore. It is divided up into different areas so that guests can find different areas to relax in.
The cottage is only 2 km from the village of Payzac with all its amenities, shops,supermarkets, restaurant, bank with atm machine, pharmacy, boulangerie, charcuterie and 3 cafes.
The cottage is near to some very historic villages including Pompadour with its magnificent chateau.There also major horse events there including dressage, eventing and a superb race course Segur ie chateau is also a beautiful village nearby with a great restaurant and outdoor festivals in July and August
There is parking at the front of the cottage for several cars
Not suitable for children under 5 and persons with limited mobility
The cottage has a private garden with plenty of garden furniture and sunbeds available
There are a number of good restaurants in the area including the restaurant at lake rouffiac which is open in the summer, Seven is a good restaurant in Pompadour and there are two good restaurants at Segur le Chateau
Well maintained and equipped Maison. Comfortable beds, nice outside seating area, well kept garden, good parking. Very good communication with the owner, Marie. Wifi a boon, British TV channels. Good base for visiting local towns such as Segur le Chateau, Pompadour, good local supermarkets in St Yrieux. Highlight was Farmers market in Segur, 5-8pm. Ideal for those who like to get out and explore the environs.
