About this property

3 Bed Luxury House with Private Pool and Jacuzzi . This villa is in a rural setting.

South facing property with private pool and jacuzzi

"Lily" is our main home, and furnished and decorated accordingly, (we move out during the summer months), unlike many properties that are second homes and used simply for holiday lets.
Lily sits right on the Dordogne/Lot border and is ideally situated to visit all the major tourist attractions in both departments.
Lily had a new kitchen installed in 2012 and although the living room is extremely spacious and comfortable, we have no doubt you will be spending most of your time outside on the 100 square metre decking area, complete with swimming pool and jacuzzi, all set in totally private gardens. The entire outside entertainment area has mood lighting and outside electricity sockets. The outdoor dining area comes complete with seating area and dining table, which seats 6 people comfortably and a superb gas barbecue at your disposal for that al fresco dining. Lie back and relax on the sunloungers or sit under the umbrellas or covered terrace, which has a 20ft awning which helps to keep the house cool.
Lily has 3 well-appointed double bedrooms, all with mosquito nets at the windows, allowing for windows to be kept open all night without the fear of being bitten, a family bathroom refitted in 2015 as well as a separate wc.
So you don't miss out on UK tv channels, we also have a wall mounted 42" flat screen tv.
Unlimited internet access with free wi-fi.
There are numerous books, games and puzzles to keep the whole family occupied.

1.We loved our stay at Lily. Ginny and Al greeted us on arrival and gave us great information about the area, restaurants etc. The villa is private, extremely quiet and in a fascinating part of France. It was dry clean, had an excellent kitchen and living area, and we loved the big outside deck. There were plenty of seating around the pool for the six of us, outside dining and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay.
2.We received a lovely warm welcome from Ginny & Al. The pool and hot tub were very welcome, especially in the hot evenings. The house is lovely and situated in a great place which acts as a base for getting out and about. We loved Gourffre de Padirac and Monpazier and can highly recommend the Auberge de la Place in Cazals. Thanks for letting us share your home.
3.Met by Ginny and Al the lovely owners of Lilly so our stay was off to a great start with their knowledge of all things local. They couldn't have made us feel more welcome. The villa is clean and well appointed. The grounds are a treat, south facing and private. The location is great for a getaway. No traffic, no pollution of any sort, the air is clean and the only sounds you will hear come from the woods. The local roads are all single track and great for walking running or cycling. There is no shortage of local attractions. A most beautiful location. Go and see for yourself !
4.Thank you for a wonderful holiday at Lily We will definitely be back Danke fur einen fierrlichen urlaub im Lily Wir kommen wieder

1.Brilliant.We arrived at 4pm to the sun shining on the pool - where it stayed every evening until gone 8pm when the sun went down. The house was easy to find thanks to Ginnys step by step directions. What can we say except we should have booked 2 weeks!! So peaceful and relaxing, it was a struggle to go out each day as we wanted to stay by the pool reading and playing games. Lots of bbqs were had and lots of wine drunk. Everything was so clean and I can't think of anything we didn't have as far as the facilities went. Ginny & Al made sure we knew some of the best places to go as this was our first time in the Dordogne area. We wish them all the best with future rentals and hope to go back at some point next year
2. We arrived late in the afternoon to a warm welcome from Al and Ginny. The house was a pleasant surprise, with all the amenities we could wish for. The outside space was amazing ; the pool, hot tub, decking and garden kept the kids busy and entertained for hours at a time, and although we had planned to spend time out and about, we ended up staying put so that we could enjoy the facilities. When we did venture out, there were lots of activities and places to visit, with the canoe trip on the Dordogne particularly good fun. Al and Ginny were around to offer advice on places to visit and local restaraunts, as well a trips further afield.
3. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would definitely recommend this to any prospective holidaymakers.Wonderful, ended up cancelling days out as enjoying the peace and quite the accommodation had to offer. Perfect getaway, had all amenities you could ask for. Would fully recommend.
4. Wow!! have had a lovely relaxing week, couldn't keep the little one out of the pool and hot tub. Many BBQ's had. House was so nice, day trips were cancelled so we could stay in and make the most of the facilities and peace and quiet. Thanks for the frogs legs, Kenney loved them!
5. With a family of 5 (Children in the age of 5,9 and 12) we had a great time at this superb accommodation. The swimming pool, the jacuzzi and the beautiful outdoor space, the pretty surroundings, the fantastic weather and all the amenities have made our holiday an unforgettable one. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, who came to replace a broken lightbulb right away and gave us some good tips on things to do in the area. It was great that the wi-fi worked well and that everything was clean, we slept really well on the comfortable beds and we enjoyed eating outside every day. There was plenty to do and see in the area and we have made excellent trips. We would highly recommend this property.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Miss Virginia Edwards

We bought Lily as a holiday home in 2003. One night, after several glasses of wine we decided to move out full time to France.. So we packed up our 8 year old son, our 7 month old Irish Wolfound and we left the UK. Our 8 year old son is now at university in the UK and we've since lost our wolfound, but Lily still remains our home.

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? Superb location, as Lily sits right on the Dordogne/Lot borders.
Unique benefits of property First and foremost privacy. We are surrounded by a huge laurel hedge and woods to the back. Hubby bought me the adjacent field one year for my birthday, because one day I said "I hope nobody ever buys that field and builds on it". Now nobody ever will. We do not stay at Lily when you take your holiday, so again even more privacy. The pool and jacuzzi are great, and it's easy for a day to go by without venturing out of the gates. As it's our main home, all the fixtures and furniture were and are continually upgraded from new, nothing has come from the local vide grenier, (car boot sale). Lily is a modern property, warm in winter, cool in summer.

The Owner Recommends

Canoe Down the Dordogne

Take a picnic and canoe down the Dordogne River, seeing Chateaux along route. Stop off for a picnic at many of the various picnic sites. Suitable for all of the family and all ages. Must do activity whilst you are here.

Drive and Sample the Wine Routes

Spend a day in the Lot Valley exploring the many wine routes. Most of the chateaux's give free demonstrations and nearly all will give free wine tastings without prior booking.

Tree Climbing

Go tree climbing in Sarlat. Test your fear of heights. Suitable for children from 5 up to 65!! Great for a family day out. Take a picnic or call in for lunch at one of the many restaurants in Sarlat or Domme. All children in any family are sure to enjoy this day out.

Visit Cahors

Cahors is the capital of the Lot department, only 40 minutes away from the property. It has the only bridge in France with three towers on it. Spend the day shopping and then eating lunch in one of the many restaurants along the main boulevard.

Visit Domme

Take a half day trip out to Domme and Cenac. Go on a Tuesday morning when Cenac market is on. Then go to Domme for lunch. Interesting shops and underground caves to visit. Spectacular views.

Visit one of the Many Chateaux

There are Chateaux all along the Dordogne River. All worth spending a half day at.

Visit Rocamadour

One of the most visited places outside of Paris in France. Walk up the steps or take a lift to the church at the top of the rock face. Browse in one of the many shops at the bottom of this famous tourist attraction. Take lunch in one of the many restaurants.

Visit Roque Gagaec

In Périgord Noir, at the foot of a south-facing cliff, the creamy stone houses with their "lauze" stone slab or brown-tiled roofs are mirrored in the waters of the River Dordogne where the famous "gabares" (traditional flat-bottomed boats) laden with goods used to pass in the 19 century.

Vist the Historic Town of Sarlat

Saturday, market day is one of the best days to visit this historic town. One of the largest markets in the Dordogne. There are many restaurants to choose from when deciding to take lunch, after spending the morning either browsing one of the hundred or so market stalls or looking at the ancient architecture.

Water Park Souillac

If you have small children, then spend a day at this lovely water park less than an hour from our property.

Lovely relaxed stay at Salviac our fourth year. We love the peace and quiet and the sunshine!

Lily feels remote but is really close to local shops and restaurants (2 mins) and supermarkets (10 mins). Nice to have an Italian restaurant this year so close and the food was lovely.

Lily is well equipped and well loved - perfect for a relaxed and comfortable stay.

Owner response

Hi Jenny

A wonderful remote rural setting. Ideal for a quiet restful holiday but close enough to visit the main attractions of the Dordogne. The beds were a little soft for our liking and the bedroom walls a little thin. Allegedly everybody else thought I was snoring, but I know it was the wife!
We all enjoyed the local restaurant La Terrasse which was just 5 mins away by car.

Owner response

Hi Joanne & Family

Thank you so much for your lovely review.

I'm sure it must have been thin walls and not overly loud snoring!!!

La Terrasse is a lovely little restaurant and the views over the vineyards are beautiful.

Look forward to seeing you again

Lily villa is perfect for a very relaxing holiday in the stunning South of France. We arrived after a long journey but Ginny’s directions were spot on. The villa itself is spotlessly clean and Ginny has thought of everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The outside space including the pool and hot tub are wonderful. The pool was immaculate and thank you to Darren for checking on it throughout the week. Lily’s grounds have so many eating areas you are spilt for choice though my favourite was the sofa just outside the door, perfect for a glass of wine in the evening watching the stars come out. The surrounding area is fabulous. We ventured into Salviac each morning for fresh croissants from the bakers and on an evening once it became cooler a walk to the quaint village of Florimont-Gaumier gave stunning views across the countryside. During our stay we visited Sarlat and La Roque-Gageac, two of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. To be honest we didn’t see as much of the tourist spots as we had planned as it was so difficult to drag yourself away from the pool and villa.
Lily is a very special villa, so peaceful and quiet. The interior is spotless and the exterior has more than everything you could need to enjoy a holiday in this stunning area of France. We will definitely be back next year but this time for 2 weeks, 1 just isn’t enough. Thank you so much to Ginny for letting us stay in your perfect home!

Owner response

Hi Richard

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments.
We're really pleased you enjoyed your holiday at Lily, and look forward to seeing you next year.

We arrived at Lily just before 8 pm after a long hot drive from Calais. We were immediately struck by how secluded the property was. The only sounds we heard were from the birds and the insects!
Lily`s strength is its superb outside `living area`: the swimming pool is fantastic and is kept at an ideal temperature. We had superb weather, and so many planned day-trips were cancelled while we relaxed in the sun reading, sun-bathing and swimming. The hot-tub/spa was the icing on the cake and is a great facility and a fantastic way of unwinding in the late evening.
The gas-fired barbecue was in constant use most evenings and was very popular with my other half who did not have to do any cooking for the entire 2 weeks!! Eating `Al-fresco` at the outside dining table was so enjoyable that we only went to the local restaurants twice!
We had some teething problems with a couple of the facilities in the house but these were resolved rapidly and without fuss by the owners Al and Ginny, who are clearly highly motivated towards ensuring that their guests have the best possible holiday experience.
Ginny`s directions to find the property were clear and unambiguous and we didn`t need any sat-nav assistance.
Having access to UK Freeview TV channels was very welcome enabling full enjoyment of the football World Cup!
There was plenty of space in the house and Lily comes equipped with everything that you could possibly need.for a great holiday. A lovely part of France - highly recommended!
