About this property

Cottage in Grounds of Petit Chateau. This cottage/gite is in a town setting.

A beautifully converted period cottage set in heart of a French town. The cottage opens out onto large walled gardens and a 14 metre fully fenced swimming pool and sleeps 7.

The cottage is a short walk away from the local bakery, choice of restaurants, spas, nail bars, ice cream shop and two supermarkets (one of which is a brand new E. Leclerc in 2015).  You can even grab your basket and enjoy the popular weekly market or take a stroll along the river and up to the medieval church.

The area is very family friendly area; teenagers can enjoy independence with walking, tennis or canoeing, whilst younger members will be forever occupied in all the nooks and crannies of the gardens including the trampoline, swings, slide and the wooden play house.  For the adults, you can relax in various parts of the gardens, enjoy a glass of wine and eat together under the shade of the abrey or the St Emillion vine.

There is also the possibility to hire bikes delivered to the property if ordered in advance, including baby and child seats, locks and baskets.

If you like the country that's just a short walk away too - into the hills where you can run, walk or bike forever or you might prefer to take the train for a shopping trip to Perigueux or a cultural visit to the wonderful city of Bordeaux.
In summer months the town plays host to various festivals and activities as well as antique brocants and night markets so there is always something to see or do or you can simply relax and read on a sun lounger in the beautiful gardens, which are secured with electric gates front and back and there is private parking for up to 4 cars.

We offer babysitting, home cooked food, French lessons, private Pilates lessons and off site days out like colour me beautiful (cheaper than in the UK), cooking and photography courses.  We are located within easy reach of the many beautiful chateaux of the Dordogne, the historic towns of Auberterre and the wonder wine town of St Emillion.  Please ask for our top 10 list of things to do in the area or visit the tourist office a short stroll from the property. Free wi-fi in the house or in the town at Bar le Central, you might need to buy a coffee or beer

A wonderful holiday property well equipped with all the kit needed for babies and toddlers, both inside the house and outside in the very large garden. The owners were friendly and welcoming, it was a bonus for us that they were next door in their property providing helpful tips and information and even a playmate for our toddler! The garden was so well geared up for young children that we were able to sit and relax whilst watching the children play. The location was superb, close to a large supermarket (a few mins walk) and local bakeries and restaurants. A cycle path enabled us to explore further afield by bike. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay! We went with our 20 month old, our friends and their 11 month old. It was a perfect spot for a family holiday. The house matched its description. Very clean & well maintained. The garden is perfect, all enclosed and pool fenced off so no need to worry about wandering toddlers. Would be great for older children too. Plenty of toys to keep kids occupied. The house itself is in the lovely village of St Astier, only a few minutes walk to the supermarket (where you can get anything you need - nappies etc) and restaurants. The owners were lovely & couldn't have been more helpful. We arranged to have a meal cooked for us on the first night & some shopping picked up - this was definitely a good service to have when arriving late in the evening. I would highly recommend this house! We are hoping to go back next year!!

Brilliant holiday staying in the Stable in st Astier. The photos on the website do not do the garden and setting justice - large, beautiful and well maintained garden with lots of activities for adults and children on site. Great place to relax and feel on holiday!
Philly was very welcoming, friendly and approachable throughout, and made us feel at home.
Many great activities in the local area like cycling along new cycle path and sampling delicacies in the local market, and many other activities within an hours drive (wine tasting, cave tours)
The equivalent of a Tesco extra is within 4 min walk from the accommodation which is perfect for self catering and for things you may have forgotten to pack!
Would definitely recommend.
