The gite property is unique as the front part of the typically old town house end terraced was built c 1800, the rear part being built into rock in more recent times with modern techniques and gas radiator central heating as required. In the 1800's the local area surrounding Brantome was thriving with the demand for stone and building properties.
This Brantome property has 3 double bedrooms each with twin beds, 2 lounges, 2 showers, 2 toilets within the town house across 3 floors. The small riverside garden opposite the house runs along the road and riverside, and on and off road covered parking, wi-fi and two bicycles are provided with the property. The house is a real tardis, very deceptive in size, quirky yet lovely and comfortable. The rooms are bright and well proportioned. When exceptionally hot outside the pleasant internal temperature is exactly what makes this place so lovely. In the cooler winter period the gas radiator heating system quickly warms the temperature and is controlled via a schedule we set up and and adjust to your requirements , just let us know..
Whether morning, afternoon or evening, chill out and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony looking at the superb views across to the village or river to the park.
Whether you wish to stay in France at one location or travel, Brantome in the Dordogne region is a real must for your itinerary. Many tourist spots are within an easy drive and the house book itemises these for you.

Jill & Brian have renovated the house with local artisans over a number of years, the town house has both front and side access. It has been used over this period for Jill to design course material using local subject matter and collect photographic material for her Art School curriculum. Brian spends a lot of time supporting Jill ,and helping both the Royal British Legion and Arthritis Care Charities. Both love the town and surrounding villages and have many French friends.

|Why this location?||Brantome is without doubt one of the most beautiful villages set in a great area we have come across. It maintains it charm and romance whilst offering all the modern day conveniences. Brantome offers easy access and good routes to many local area locations and attractions. You will not see everything in one, two or even three weeks but you will have a fantastic time exploring or relaxing and many of of guests have returned again and again.|
|Unique benefits of property||Firstly it's unique for Brantome, it enjoys one of the best views, the size inside is like a tardis, old outside and modern inside. Rooms are generous and beds are not crammed in, quite the reverse. Within very easy level walking distance of the centre you can enjoy your holiday to the full. The town house gite has a lovely balcony and massive top floor lounge with attention to detail for guests requirements.
As one of our guest commented: - "The home was perfect. It exceeded our expectations, The owner had anticipated all our needs from his detailed book of instructions and local maps to the umbrellas and picnic supplies. The garage is a huge cave into which part of the home extends and the upper extra living room has a balcony overlooking the river and our own private garden. It is an easy 5-10 mins.walk into the beautiful town past the Abbey to the shops. We visited wineries, castles and towns but always looked forward to our return "home " We highly recommend this home to all.
We have provided a complete list and photos of places to visit that are within walking or driving with distances. These are held at the property for use during your stay.
We are situated very well for day visiting Bergerac, Perigueux, Limoges, Angouleme, Sarlat la Caneda, Rocamadour, Bordeaux, Royan areas.
Wow ! What a place. The house was absolutely spotless, and ample space for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We particularly liked the balcony area and the upstairs lounge, perfect for relaxing with a bottle of wine in the evening. Loads of information also in the blue book about places to visit.
The Wii was also well used, although we did have a slight issue with the DVD player as we tried it twice and it crashed.
The house was very cool even on hot days.
Brantome itself is simply stunning, from the river to the abbey with the tower which you can see from the house. The pictures don’t do it justice, also everything is walkable you could spend a week here and not get in your car. We particularly liked walking down into the town to get croissants and bread in the morning.
We spent a day at Lake Jemaye which was recommended in the blue book, which has it’s own beach and we hired canoes (free for 30 minutes). I thought we would miss not having access to a swimming pool but we really didn’t there was so much to do.
We travelled for 3 hours to Gouffre de Padirac, a huge cave system with an underground boat ride which I had visited as a teenager, it was superb.
Also being keen canoeists we hired 2 double canoes and paddled down to Bourdeilles which took about 3 hours, involving a voluntary capsize to cool off in the river.
Can’t fault the house or the location, will definitely revisit the Dordogne again.
Many thanks for a great review, feedback for our clients and news of your amazing holiday. I'll check on the DVD player to see if it was the DVDs or the unit. Thanks again for the feedback.

Wow, what a location!
Just a couple of minutes walk along the river from the historic abbey and Hotel De Ville sits Maison Brantome. And it sits in a idyllic setting, nestling in the cave to keep it cooler than other houses.
Beautifully clean and tidy, and ready for action! To be fair, the pictures we saw before booking were great, but don't do it justice!
All the useful information you need on arrival is easy to find, superbly benefiting from everything you need that you have not brought with you, cooking facilities etc etc and a real home from home....even if it's wet there is a Nintendo Wii! Not that we saw anything like rain, hardly any clouds to be honest!
So whilst you will find everything you need in the house, including wifi access for the kids, or bigger kids, get out of the house, on the bikes there for your use, or on your feet and explore the beauty of Brantome....we took loads of pictures and have fantastic memories.
Everywhere has one failing.....this place....you won't want to leave the view or the setting.
The town itself has lots of reasonably prices restaurants, and better quality ones for those splashing out....or you can splash about a bit more and hire canoes and tackle the local weirs, many passing Maison Brantome's little haven of sunbathing and relaxing next to the river.
Lovely, lovely lovely relaxing week in the sunshine and we will be back, I hope.
Book it, you will not be disappointed!
Many thanks for taking time to complete your review which our future guests may also find useful.
We hope you book again to enjoy the romance of Brantome.

We couldn't have wished for more really, very good - value, clean, full facilities and easy parking.
Deceptive when viewing for the outside, so much bigger and modern inside.
Beds were comfortable and the room we had was huge, The other 2 bedrooms were good sized too.
A nice welcome pack went down well and the information provided pre and post booking was exceptional customer service. This covered just about everyone's taste and questions with some good travel tips too.
The weather was sunny and hot during the day but being early in the season was very cool first thing in the morning and night so a jumper was needed. The house central heating was very effective to keep us snug with a bottle of wine or two.
We used the Bistrot St Pierre twice and had very tasty steaks.Recommended.
Brantome is such a fab place to stay.
We would definitely return.
Thank you so much for your review, we hope to see you again some day
Excellent house in a wonderful
Took us a while to find house, our sat nav was convinced it was on the other side of the river !! We approached it through the cobbled streets through the town with the river to the left and found the house on the right. It had a large drive and parked within the cave. This cave was an amazing site in itself and we found many people wandering up to have a look. The house was lovely and cool, even on the hottest days. I would suggest extra layers at night. There is a small road between the house and the garden. We used the garden every day for all meals and relaxing. I was not expecting the area to be so beautiful. The views from the house and garden are wonderful. On the other side of the river was a park which hosted markets and small festivals. There was always so much to watch from the garden. Brantome was an amazing town. Lots of shops and restaurants. So much history to see. We kayaked a couple of times using the company in Brantome. This is definitely worth it, do try and book up as soon as you arrive as it can get busy in August. The journey is not difficult if you take a double or family kayak. Brian the owner was very helpful. He checked everything was ok and left a very helpful guide book about the house and area. Because of the nature of the house being built within the cave walls you do need to read all the information. Our family had a wonderful week in the house and would definitely like to stay again in the near future.
Dear Louise, Thank you for your review and we are so pleased you had a great time in our unique house and we do look forward to you booking again with us. Kind Regards Jill & Brian
