Brantome in the beautiful Dordogne is known as the 'Little Venice of the Dordogne ' and for good reason: The main town is surrounded by water, accessed by one of 5 bridges and popular with tourists. The area is charming, romantic and should be on one's ‘must’ visit list.
The local villages surrounding Brantome offer the opportunity to sight see other beautiful places. For the more active in Brantome there are the usual sports from cycling, riding, canoeing, to microlights and paddle boards. Alternatively for those who like the quiet life, Brantome offers you a wealth of history, boat trips, lovely walks, many restaurants and scenery to enjoy with a glass of wine or two. There are many places nearby which one can either walk, cycle or drive to for real peace and quiet whilst enjoying the local area.We appreciate many self employed or senior management need high speed wi-fi when away from home and the house on all floors and garden are covered very well.
Brantome has many shops, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacy, supermarkets, banks and garages along with offering a good base to sight see and is in easy reach of five airports. For those traveling by sea, Brittany Ferries will offer you a 20% discount for traveling with them when booking our property via them. You pay a small booking fee to them then the balance of the main rental, booking rental is via ourselves with our T&Cs plus as with ever place a security deposit.
The gite property is unique as the front part of the typically old town house end terraced was built c 1800, the rear part being built into rock in more recent times with modern techniques and gas radiator central heating as required. In the 1800's the local area surrounding Brantome was thriving with the demand for stone and building properties.
This Brantome property has 3 double bedrooms each with twin beds, 2 lounges, 2 showers, 2 toilets within the town house across 3 floors. The small riverside garden opposite the house runs along the road and riverside, and on and off road covered parking, wi-fi and two bicycles are provided with the property. The house is a real tardis, very deceptive in size, quirky yet lovely and comfortable. The rooms are bright and well proportioned. When exceptionally hot outside the pleasant internal temperature is exactly what makes this place so lovely. In the cooler winter period the gas radiator heating system quickly warms the temperature and is controlled via a schedule we set up and and adjust to your requirements , just let us know..
Whether morning, afternoon or evening, chill out and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony looking at the superb views across to the village or river to the park.

Large ground tiled floor double windows in the lounge with a door to front of property. Settee, chairs, flat screen UK TV, fireplace, large extendable table and chairs, and radiator.
In the 2nd lounge on the second floor there is a large settee, chairs, 40in flat screen TV, DVD player, Wii and access to balcony. This room could be used as an additional bedroom for responsible children (on pre agreement and bookings only).
The front first floor housed bedroom 1, with large twin 90cm beds (we can link these to provide a Super King double, - just ask), wardrobe, bedside unit, 3 multi draw cabinets and bedside lights, Wall and centre lights, double aspect windows to overlooking a small road to the garden, park and abbey.
Bedroom 2 is also on the 1st floor with twin 90 cm beds. Wardrobe, bedside cabinets, wall lights.
Bedroom 3 a smaller twin bedroom is on the ground floor and twin beds, wardrobe, bedside cabinet , wall lights and an en suite with a good sized shower. This is ideal for those who find stairs difficult.

On demand hot water served by a Gas combi boiler with thermostatic radiator SMART central heating, some additional electric heaters are available if you wish to heat a single room and not use the main heating. The gas central heating will be preset for your needs and can be locally and remotely adjusted.
2 x flat screen, 42" & 37" UK tv with Freesat, humax recorder and dvd player, sound system, various recorded programmes, dvd's, Wii with games, various boxed games, books, boules, 2 bicycles. Some of the games are inside the top of the table in the 2nd floor lounge
A small riverside open plan garden opposite the house, via a small road, with tiled area behind fencing for sunbathing and relaxing, along with a further open area for eating with table, chairs, sun loungers and parasol. Fantastic views!
We normally eat most of our meals here.

On and off road parking. For Brantome you will not need a car, it's only a few hundred metres walk.
When touring the area you will definitely need a car or if you do a big shop to one of the two supermarkets.
There is a bus which runs from Angouleme to Perigueux railway stations which stops at Brantome 3 times a day.
Families welcome and as you can see from the reviews well behaved children really enjoy themselves when under parental control.
However, in the interest of safety please do use the child gates on stairs and doors for the smaller children. YOu may consider the stairs and location not suitable for very young children but this is family dependent on your circumstances. No equipment is 100% safe and parents must take responsibility for the actions of their children. If in doubt call us before booking.

Our prices exclude local tourist (2018) taxes at 0.55E per person per night. All guest rented accommodation from Gites, B&B, to Hotels have to pay this but at a higher increasing tariff rate. This applies to all adults 18 and over all year round, to all properties hired, rented, used during the year throughout the Dordogne. The tariff should be left in an envelop on the ground floor lounge table in an envelop prior to departure.
Two bicycles are provided for local use, please bring your own safety equipment - helmets etc. Bicycles should be returned undamaged and in good working order. There is a tyre pump onsite.
Alternatively or in addition - We have partnered with a cycle hire company if your require more bicycles, we can send this information upon booking.
We do not change any extras for normal use of the property except where the place has not been left as found, as per our T&Cs on our website which prevail. Only external towels are charged for and arranged prior your visit, and it saves you packing them.

Jill & Brian have renovated the house with local artisans over a number of years, the town house has both front and side access. It has been used over this period for Jill to design course material using local subject matter and collect photographic material for her Art School curriculum. Brian spends a lot of time supporting Jill ,and helping both the Royal British Legion and Arthritis Care Charities. Both love the town and surrounding villages and have many French friends.

It maintains it charm and romance whilst offering all the modern day conveniences. Brantome offers easy access and good routes to many local area locations and attractions. You will not see everything in one, two or even three weeks but you will have a fantastic time exploring or relaxing and many of of guests have returned again and again.|
|Unique benefits of property||Firstly it's unique for Brantome, it enjoys one of the best views, the size inside is like a tardis, old outside and modern inside. Rooms are generous and beds are not crammed in, quite the reverse. Within very easy level walking distance of the centre you can enjoy your holiday to the full. The town house gite has a lovely balcony and massive top floor lounge with attention to detail for guests requirements.

It exceeded our expectations, The owner had anticipated all our needs from his detailed book of instructions and local maps to the umbrellas and picnic supplies. The garage is a huge cave into which part of the home extends and the upper extra living room has a balcony overlooking the river and our own private garden.It is an easy 5-10 mins.walk into the beautiful town past the Abbey to the shops. We visited wineries, castles and towns but always looked forward to our return "home " We highly recommend this home to all.

We are situated very well for day visiting Bergerac, Perigueux, Limoges, Angouleme, Sarlat la Caneda, Rocamadour, Bordeaux, Royan areas.
For the last 4 or 5 years my family and I have camped when visiting France so this was our chance to have a change and stay in a house rather than under canvas.
And what a house it is. When we arrived it was so nice just to be able to get the bags out of the car. The welcome pack is a great idea and a good introduction to life in France.
The house is a great size and was immaculately clean when we arrived which always starts the holiday off well. We had a quick explore with people picking what bedrooms they were going to sleep in. As per the description the master bedroom is huge with lots of room. The bed is really comfy and I did enjoy some of the best night sleeps I had had for a long time.
With the garden across the road it afforded us the opportunity to watch the canoeists go past having first negotiated the weir where people would gather on the bridge over looking it just to watch their efforts getting over it.
Brantomè itself is a lovely place and I defy anyone to go hungry there. They have a lot of restaurants ranging from top end Michelin rated to a whole in the wall selling kebabs etc.
You can use brantomè as your base because there is so much to do in the area. Most of the places that we visited were no more than 30 mins away and the visit to the caves and police horses is a must. Perigueux is a must and the prices are reasonable. If swimming is your thing then there is a waterpark only about an hour away and there is a fresh water lake 30 mins away.

Maison Brantome provides everything we could wish for a perfect holiday. It is clean and very well equipped and in an excellent location. We especially liked the fact that we didn't need to use the car as it is such a short stroll into town. The garden is lovely and we spent many hours sitting there enjoying the view across the park and waving to the passing canoeist. Brian and Jill could not have been more helpful and gave us some excellent advise on places to see, local supermarkets and speed limits. This was our second year at this lovely house and we are already looking forward to returning next year. Thank you Brian and Jill.

We had a lovely holiday in Brantome and the house is beautiful. The bedrooms are cool even in the hot weather and the garden over the road is perfect for eating meals and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed canoeing on La Dronne and visiting the local caves to see the cave art. We ate out a few times in Brantôme and the restaurants are lovely. We also made good use of the fully equipped kitchen to prepare our own meals. Our children are 7 and 9 and the house worked perfectly for us but due to the road between the house and garden and low windows etc it may not suit familes with very small children (although gates and stair gates are provided).

Well situated house of three floors and easy walking into the town. Nice small garden overlooking the river across what can be, a busy little road. It was well equipped and provided with all essentials and a nice welcome pack. With it being setback against a cave there are a few rules to help keep condensation etc at bay but no real issues. Big lounge upstairs but due to the constant hum from the boiler we did not use it and stayed in downstairs lounge. TV and Wi-Fi had excellent reception and gave us no problems. Website says cars are allowed to park in the cave, then on arrival we found it had to be parked on the road outside which we were not happy about. Even more so when car was hit by something causing damage in a number of places. The owner always responded timely to any questions we had and provided a pretty good description of their rental property. Apart from the car parking issues we enjoyed our stay in Brantome.

Yes, we sadly had a late notice for change of circumstances for use of the cave for parking which we notified clients of prior arrival. We do have use of the off road Private no parking area when it's not in use by our neighbour. Clients this week have thankfully no issues so your unfortunate situation was regrettable and our 1st in nearly 20 years. The low hum was the house air ventilation system.
The property had just been decorated prior to your arrival so hopefully the freshness of the house was to your liking.

We do consider, walking distance from town, lots of amenities, restaurants, small riverside garden, 3 double sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 lounges, wifi, bicycles, welcome pack, phone, for our competitive tariff very good value as many guests have stated. As per initial booking request if there are any issues we do ask we are notified immediately so we can resolve, we cannot resolve if not informed, we had none regarding cleanliness or condition (just redecorated).
