Less than 10 minutes by car. This wonderful old chateau is beautifully restored complete with dungeons, banquet hall and exquisite bed chambers with original furnishings. A great place to walk around and see a traditional chateau in its original condition. There is a shop and drinks but the great bonus are the man made lake for water activities and the highly recommended village restaurant. The Auberge des Marronniers serves good food at a good price with some English spoken and menus in English. Book as very popular in summer.
Close to Bergerac just off the main N21 route Eymet. Famous vineyard less than 20 km. Made famous by the film A Good Year starring Russell Crow. Fantastic label with some outstanding wines and very good lower priced wines all organic. English spoken by the very hospitable hosts a must for wine tasting.
This is a reconstitution of a rural village at the turn of the last century with its school, chapel, town hall, wash house and wine cellar. In each of the buildings, actors stage the joys and chores of the past: a harvest supper, a wedding celebration, or washerwomen at work. Bakers, smiths and other craftsmen perpetuate the traditional trades. 191 Allée Paul-Jean Souriau, 24260, Le Bugue Great for the kids and adults and lots to do
Close to Jaubertie just off the main Bergerac Castillonnes road N21 on the D14. Great little vineyard with some outstanding wines in all price brackets. David Fourtout is the fourth generation of his family to run this estate. He has 23 hectares of white grapes and 22 of red. Very friendly and worth a tasting.
We enjoyed a fabulous fortnight in this beautiful, traditional property. We really enjoyed the pool, and the peaceful and private environment. Phil, the owner, was exceptionally helpful, with clear directions and suggestions for local sightseeing. The area is beautiful and there are lots of lovely places to explore and nice places to eat.
