First weekend of August. Just 7K away.
Dozens of local and distance producers selling direct to the public in the town of Lalinda. Free tasting then buy genuine French Champagne for half the regular price, plus Bordeaux, Bergerac and Alsace quality wines.
Every Monday night during July & August Beaumont hosts a night festival. Just 7k away. Local food and wine from nearby producers and restaurants at very good prices. The main square is converted into a giant restaurant with music stage and dance floor. Live music from local performers into the evening. Nights are warm and dry.
Less than 10 minutes by car. This wonderful old chateau is beautifully restored complete with dungeons, banquet hall and exquisite bed chambers with original furnishings. A great place to walk around and see a traditional chateau in its original condition. There is a shop and drinks but the great bonus are the man made lake for water activities and the highly recommended village restaurant. The Auberge des Marronniers serves good food at a good price with some English spoken and menus in English. Book as very popular in summer.
Including the famous Chateau du Jaubertie, Clos de Verdots, Monbazillac and many more. Begin your trail in Bergerac on the main N21 route Eymet. Dozens of famous vineyard less than 20 km radius. Fantastic labels with some outstanding wines and very good lower priced wines all organic. English spoken by the very hospitable hosts a must for wine tasting.
This is a reconstitution of a rural village at the turn of the last century with its school, chapel, town hall, wash house and wine cellar. In each of the buildings, actors stage the joys and chores of the past: a harvest supper, a wedding celebration, or washerwomen at work. Bakers, smiths and other craftsmen perpetuate the traditional trades. 191 Allée Paul-Jean Souriau, 24260, Le Bugue Great for the kids and adults and lots to do
All our local towns and villages host farmers markets. All food locally produced. Plus night markets July & August. Ask Phil for more details.
If you want peace but with facilities to keep the kids happy this is the place. My wife and I, 7 year old daughter and 3 year old dog stayed for a week and will go back for definitie Beautiful views, huge forest on your doorstep to walk the dog and wear out the children and keep cool. Wonderful fantastic value restaurant/bar 10 mins walk from the property. Very clean pool which is not too chlorinated. Weather gets very hot in summer so the fact that the house is centuries old with very deep walls means it’s a Wellcome respite from he heat. New gas BBQ was used a lot and seating area is shaded and big enough for a large family The owner Phil was there so any problems sorted immediately and his knowledge of where to visit was very Wellcome. Beautiful medieval villages all around and Bergerac is just 30 mins drive for shopping eating and go karting. Phil provided excellent directions from Calais which I recommend using for cost and speed of journey. Highly recommend for an authentic French experience.
Glad you enjoyed the stay. It was a pleasure taking you on the nature trail, great fun for the youngsters.
Freshly picked fried tomatoes with baguette – my favourite breakfast of this holiday! Freshly picked raspberries on cereal was a close second. This was only made possible with free access provided by the owner to his allotment. We have never spent a holiday in France where we didn't have to buy any vegetables! The property in is in a quiet setting near Bayac. The owner and his friendly dog were only too happy to help our group of nine which were easily accommodated in this large property. The swimming pool associated with the property in my view is exceptional - by far the best we've had access to on holiday in France. There is a really good pizza restaurant within 10 minutes walk of the property and many other excellent restaurants within a 20 minute drive. Intermarche is within 5 km of the property. There is easy access to bike hire and canoeing / kayaking. The area has several excellent vineyards within easy reach by car. During the football season, football fans may be tempted by the cheap access to Ligue 1 Games at Bordeaux FC – approximately two hours drive. I would highly recommend this property.
Top Tip - if travelling from the north of France by car, take the owners advice for your route!
We enjoyed a fabulous fortnight in this beautiful, traditional property. We really enjoyed the pool, and the peaceful and private environment. Phil, the owner, was exceptionally helpful, with clear directions and suggestions for local sightseeing. The area is beautiful and there are lots of lovely places to explore and nice places to eat.
