The older fortress section, dating from the 13th century, is the part containing the the impressive octagonal keep that dominates the skyline of the town, while the adjoining newer 16th century chateau is an altogether more refined building, with rich furnishings throughout. The chateau gardens are very traditional French style – plenty of small meticulously shaped shrubs – and give a lovely backdrop to the chateau.

A lovely Gites in the Périgord Limousin National Park with lovely countryside views. The Gites is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners Mairi and Ren are very helpful and lovely hosts. The swimming pool was always clean and was in a lovely setting. There was so much to do in the area with most places within 45 minutes drive. We will definitely consider returning in the future.

We had an amazing time and the property was fantastic, the pool perfect for the kids (ages 10, 8, 5, 2) but you also have the lake at St Esteph down the road (15 minutes) with great swimming and loads of other activities so you can vary the fun for the kids. The local towns and villages are beautiful and you are pretty much equidistant with Angloumet, Limoges etc if you want to do something different. The chickens and goats were also a hit and Mairi and Ren were the consumate hosts we couldn't ask for more.

Owner response

Ren and Mairi were very welcoming and on hand with vital information about the local area. The Gite was amazingly clean and spacious providing everything that we needed. The pool is shared with the Gite next door but there was enough room for everybody, and the children had lots of space to be noisy and run around exploring safely. There are many kilometres of very clearly marked bike trails on the doorstep which we found and enjoyed. All in all a very good holiday.

Mairi and Ren were fantastic hosts who were very welcoming and always happy to help. The gite is set in beautiful grounds and while quiet and secluded, you are very close to many local villages and towns with lots of things to do. We also had our disabled father with us on holiday and the gite was also perfect for this as there is a ground floor bedroom and shower room. Our young children really enjoyed the pool, which has an alarm for extra piece of mind and the large balcony was a great place to eat breakfast or an evening meal while enjoying the wonderful views. One of the best holiday rentals we have stayed in and we would highly recommend.
