L'arbre Magnolia is a restful retreat from the everyday, offering a well equipped and tastefully decorated gite in a 18th Century building. L'arbre Magnolia is furnished in a relaxed style, with modern decorations and has 2 floors.
Completely renovated to an exceedingly high standard, the gite has spacious rooms, and plenty of modern amenities to enhance your stay, with everything you would expect to find in your own home. The pool has easy access by steps, with loungers and parasols for your comfort, pool-side lights and under-water illumination. The pool is shared with La Maison de Rebeyrat. We have found after running the business for 7 years now that this works extremely well as the children from the two gites make friends and entertain themselves, while the adults can relax and unwind. It is cleaned and maintained on a daily basis, and is fully compliant with French law, including a safety alarm which has a code.
You can also watch for wildlife, such as deer, birds, including eagles, hoopoe, black redstart and woodpeckers, from the comfort of the loungers. On a dark clear night, the starry sky is spectacular.

Perigueux is the capital of the Perigord, with lively twice-weekly markets, You will find pretty, narrow streets that run between stone buildings and squares with cafes and restaurants. You will find museums and art galleries, which are well worth a visit.. Arriving in Perigueux the first thing to attract your attention is the amazing St Front Cathedral which dominates the town centre. The original church was built in about 1120 and changed in the 19th century by Paul Abadie who used it as a model for the design of the Sacre Coeur church in Montmarte. In the summer there is an annual international mime festival, with players performing in the medieval city streets as well as in the theatre.
Piegit Pluviers is a 10 minute drive, with shops, banks, restaurants and bars. A bustling Wednesday market provides the holidaymakers with all the aromas one associates with life in France.
A man made lake approx 15 minutes away from the gite, which has an excellent beach with picnic tables and a children's play area.
The Chateau de Bourdeilles dominates the village and is the center of a visit. In fact the 'chateau de Bourdeilles' consists of two distinct castles – an older castle, and then a larger more recent renaissance castle. The older fortress section, dating from the 13th century, is the part containing the the impressive octagonal keep that dominates the skyline of the town, while the adjoining newer 16th century chateau is an altogether more refined building, with rich furnishings throughout. The chateau gardens are very traditional French style – plenty of small meticulously shaped shrubs – and give a lovely backdrop to the chateau.
Ren and Mairi were very welcoming and on hand with vital information about the local area. The Gite was amazingly clean and spacious providing everything that we needed. The pool is shared with the Gite next door but there was enough room for everybody, and the children had lots of space to be noisy and run around exploring safely. There are many kilometres of very clearly marked bike trails on the doorstep which we found and enjoyed. All in all a very good holiday.
Mairi and Ren were fantastic hosts who were very welcoming and always happy to help. The gite is set in beautiful grounds and while quiet and secluded, you are very close to many local villages and towns with lots of things to do. We also had our disabled father with us on holiday and the gite was also perfect for this as there is a ground floor bedroom and shower room. Our young children really enjoyed the pool, which has an alarm for extra piece of mind and the large balcony was a great place to eat breakfast or an evening meal while enjoying the wonderful views. One of the best holiday rentals we have stayed in and we would highly recommend.
A very enjoyable holiday ..Mairi and Ren are amazing hosts the Gite is fantastic and located in beautiful surroundings ..with a lovely swimming pool thankyou
