Le Gite (at Le Pommier) is a beautifully restored 2 bedroom farm workers cottage with an upstairs double (king) bedroom and a downstairs twin.
Situated in the Dronne Valley in a rural location, surrounded by fields of sunflowers and corn, gentle valleys and woodland, this is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Birds and wildlife abound. Surprisingly it's only 5 minutes drive from Riberac with its cafes, restaurants, shops and the biggest market in the area every Friday.
Le Gite has its own private garden and bbq area, and a walk through the games barn leads to the 10 x 5m swimming pool surrounded by tranquil gardens, walnut trees and countryside views. Outside the courtyard gates we have a small orchard with cherry, apple and mirabelle plum trees.
There are wonderful places to visit and things to do within a short drive: the Chateau at Bordeilles, the Abbey at Brantome, the Monolithic church in Aubeterre, the Cathedral and medieval lanes and squares of Perigueux. A 25 minute drive to a train station makes it very easy to visit Bordeaux. There are river beaches at Aubeterre and St Aulaye, and kayaking at many points along the Dronne. Le Grand Etang de la Jamaye is a huge lake with a beach and swimming, walks and perfect areas to picnic under the shade of trees.
A lovely country kitchen with table and chairs for 4. Its equipped with everything you need, including a dishwasher.
Decorated in shades of French blue with a stone fireplace and wood burning stove for spring and autumn evenings. There is plenty of comfy seating and a flat screen television with UK satellite tv and a dvd player.
Downstairs is a bright twin bedroom with windows facing the garden and an en suite toilet and washbasin.
Upstairs there is a large double bedroom with a king size bed and space for a cot if required.
The bathroom is upstairs and has a shower, toilet and wash basin.
We have a baby bath and changing mat if needed.
In spring and autumn we can provide heaters for the bedrooms and wood for the living room stove.
We can offer a mini 'archery experience' on site. This has proved very popular with gite guests of all ages.
The barn has table tennis, a pool table and table football.
We have bicycles to borrow.
Le Gite has its own private garden with seating and a bbq. Guests also have use of the the pool and its surrounding gardens.
Parking is outside Le Pommier on our track.
Ideal for families and couples.
We have 2 cots and 2 highchairs, and a stairgate.
Access to the pool is through the barn which can be locked, and the pool has a solar cover which is closed when the pool is not in use and overnight.
A generous welcome basket is provided and includes fairtrade coffee.
We provide some environmentally friendly cleaning products.
A separate room houses tourist information, books and dvds, and everything you need for a picnic.

|Why this location?||We've been visiting family in this area for a long time and have grown to love it. When we found Le Pommier we were delighted to be only 5 minutes drive from Riberac with its vibrant market every Friday.|
|Unique benefits of property||Le Pommier is in a rural location surrounded by farmland, fields of corn, wheat and sunflowers with the occasional patch of vines and some cows. We're members of a charity started to promote flora and fauna and protect the beautiful environment in our area. Amazingly we are only a 5 minute drive from Le Clerc supermarket and all the shops, cafes and restaurants in Riberac. There's so much to see and do in the area without having to go very far - swimming at river and lake beaches, kayaking, visiting the beautiful villages of Aubeterre, Bordeilles and Brantome, and enjoying good food and wine.
Visit the chateau in Bordeilles then have lunch there before the short drive on to Brantome, which is absolutely beautiful. Or take a picnic and sit on the banks of the river watching the kayaking.
A huge lake with a sandy beach. Go for the day (parking is free), swim, picnic under the trees, go for a walk. There are cafes there as well. About 25 minutes drive
Great fun - starting points all along the River Dronne so you can choose route and distance to suit you.
Our nearest city, with a maze of medieval streets and squares with shops and restaurants. The Cathedral is stunning as well.
The biggest market in the area every Friday and stop for coffee at one of the cafes
Le Pommier in ideally situated in a quiet rural location, but is conveniently close to local amenities. The properties are traditional and absolutely comfortable to stay in. The outside spaces are excellent from barbecue areas, outside dining, the pool area (great large heated pool), the gardens, and the barn (with table football, darts etc). We spent many happy days lazing around the pool, dining outside in the evenings, and watching the stars come out from the swinging chair in the garden, we had a great time. Linda and Alex are the perfect hosts, friendly, knowledgeable and leave you to it but on hand when you need it. No hesitation in recommending Le Pommier
